You need a power saves USB dongle or a old 3ds with 9.2 to install a save to a copy of oot apparently some copies don't work but mine did. Check gateways site and read every thread just to make sure you don't do anything wrong.

Don't believe you understood my question, or I worded it poorly. I don't care about gateway for the time being, I just want to get emuNAND on my system. I wanted to know how I would backup my current sysNAND (if you can even do that) before attempting to put emuNAND on my N3DSXL.

kinda offtopic but you can try hardmod? there's a thread floating around

I have a problem :/
I got the CFW working once and even got the gift "dev menu".
But when I took off my SD card a few times to put games on it, when I tried to run "dev menu" it gave an error and it vanished from the 3DS Menu.
Now I'm trying to get it on 3DS again but I have the following Return Code:

d9004588

http://prntscr.com/6g66yr

Can someone help me please?

I don't think you read my post I don't have gateway this is how you backup your nand with the gateway files on your SD and a copy of oot with a injected save either using gateways launcher or a save dongle....wow so both my emunand system I used this tutorial for are booting to a black screen....can anyone help me I just want working emunand till my gateway either arrives or I crack and want to go back onlinr

Ok, I managed to find a way to solve my problem I needed to format emuNAND and do the Part 2 from beginning again.
The main problem now is.
After install dev men, sometimes it disappears even with the SD card on, will it come back acessing CFW?
Because the icon also appears without CFW and if I try to open it gives an error and the dev men vanishes.

How to access dev menu without it vanishes, or play the games?

You can't run it (or any other not valid CIA) in sysnand; if you try, the first time you reboot the icon disappers. But you can unwrap it again if you go in emunand.

Unlink sysnand and emunand and will not see anymore the CIA installed on emunand in your sysnand.

I followed all the instructions successfully from Part 1 up to Part 2. Then got to step 6 and that's where things stopped me from advancing. I select the REDNAND.bin and attempted to inject it with the emuNAND Tool and when I clicked the inject button, it gives me this message: "Error! Invalid NAND file size!"

This is everything that's happening in steps:

My 2nd SD card was in my 3DS and it said GW 4.2.0-9U under the settings.
I turned off my 3DS and inserted that SD card into my laptop.
Now I currently have my SD card plugged into my laptop.
I'm running the 'emuNAND Tool 1.0.3'
I clicked [extract emuNAND] button.
I save the emuNAND file to a location...
It finishes and it created a file called emuNAND.bin.
I drag and drop it to a .bat program called 'drag_emunand_here'
A window opens and tells me it's adding dummy data... please wait
Saw a temporary dummy.bin file in the same location folder....
After a SUCCESS message pops up stating: REDNAND.bin was created!
The dummy.bin file disappears....
Pressed [OK] from that SUCCESS pop up.
Then on the emuNAND tool clicked [Inject NAND to emuNAND]
I select REDNAND.bin
.....and then I get that message I had mentioned earlier.
emunandtool_1 "Error! Invalid NAND file size!"

What am I doing wrong? This is so frustrating :////

After Format Emunand not Launch the Emunand. ;)

After Format The Emunand shut down the 3ds by Holding the Power Button after 15 Seconds.

Try this

If you're getting CTR Server issues with CTRCLIENT.EXE Redo the import.db & title.db part then press data management, THEN boot into the cfw and try to re do ctrclient. By the way ctrclient didn't work for me as it somehow would get a runtime error.
