Hacking Why does the gift wrapping always come back?

Installed some cias on eur 3ds, only those jap cias have this happening, other no.
Is there anyway to patch the cias or edit a file in the sd to mark it has been unwrapped?

You need to unlink SysNAND and EmuNAND. Just do a format of SysNAND without the SD card inside of the 3DS.

Never had this... Maybe he downloaded the nag by mistake and it need to update
in order to format?

The format connects to internet but yeah, it doesn't update. I think it appeared at the same time as the NNID as 4.x firmware don't require to connect to internet to format (and don't have NNID support).

Its my New 3DS XL and it is on 9.2. It is only asking me for internet connection, but not mentioning an update. But i rather asked, before my 3DS gets updated :s

i have the exact same problem too and my system and emunand are not linked never got the gift bug till i installed 2 jap eshop titles, fantasy zone 1 and 2 and it only hapens to those two jap titles

this is not related to system and emunand being linked it i a seperate bug that is only affecting jap eshop titles(maybe cart titles too?) being installed on different regino consoles
i have a US 3ds and now it's being reported on EU region console too
it'a really not that big an issue, not sure now many jap eshop titles there are that are not going to be released for other regions
but if it's only a few titles it's not a big deal just wait till you can find a cia of the same title for your region and reinstall it and delete the jap version

It requires an internet connection to format so it can unlink your NNID.

1. Backup your sysnand (not emunand) so that if you want to inject it back, you can.
(also, never inject back emunand. only sysnand)

2. If you are on a firmware that HAS NNID (I believe 7 and above),
downgrade to FW 4.5. (note: don't create a emunand from this downgraded 4.5)

IIRC system format may unlink NNID, which will be a problem for your emunand that has NNID.
Downgrading THEN system formatting will prevent the removal of your NNID.

3. Once step one/two is done, you can take our SD card.

4. Once step three is done, reformat sysnand.
Gifts will never re-wrap itself after this.

5. After rebooting, insert SD so that it will create some information (as though first time again).

Anyone deems my information incorrect, do correct it.

I'm pretty sure these are the steps I did.
