First of all, 'palantine CFW' is a joke, he only rewrote one file that literally calls 4 methods and continues onto another, unmodified file. It's still just yellows8's stolen code, as far as anyone should be concerned. /rant
Second, Gateway's launcher is tiny once you realize they tack several NATIVE_FIRM images on the end of it. And there's plenty of extraneous code on top of that, too. Their final stage in 1.0 includes a function to do SHA256 in software, probably because they couldn't figure the damn SHA IO out (I really don't blame them.)

Well, when firmloader was a straight re-implementation of GW's launcher it only worked around 30% of the time. Fixing what makes it so bad is easy, though. Plus firmlaunch-hax gives you almost perfect stability. The 100% launch success rate we have right now is excellent after having to deal with the early stages.

Anyways, I'm off to sleep for now. Emunand for N3DS is 95% of the way there, and with some luck should be done tomorrow. ARM9 loading shifts suck.

Please don't make a video showing off N3DS emunand when it's done. We all know what happened the last time someone did that. :D

Just wanted to add that it's nice to read good news so frequently.

just to confirm, when this is released if i have a legit copy of mh4u i can reboot into emunand on my n3ds (9.0), update mh4u and finally play online??

Is Sky gonna work in your version of EMUNAND?

I'm kinda curious about this too, I mean sky is in theory a "perfect" emulation of a cart so it would take quite a bit to block it, wouldn't it?

If this is the case then a sky + KARL + (ninjhaxs?) = all the functionality of a gateway on a N3DS.

Sky is not perfect.

thats why I said in theory, but even though its piracy related, any chance we could get the developers thoughts on this?

Also with the ninjhaxs entry point, I don't know a lot about the exploit but do you have to run it each time you boot your system?

We haven't really "properly" discussed it yet, and everyone is asleep.

Fair enough, I kinda hope you don't but I fully understand if you end up finding some way to block sky. I just hope it doesn't hurt the people who want to use it to update legitimate games.

well i wouldnt be surprised if they did block sky3ds if its simple enough to do, they are "anti-piracy" after all, no point preventing one line of piracy while pretty much making another form of piracy a lot more attractive for people.....biggest issue atm for most sky3ds users is , no emunand, no region free, no rom hacking.......karl3ds would pretty much be a "buy sky3ds and its nearly as good as gateway"....they probably couldnt stop people using sky3ds to launch karl3DS, but from what other dev's have supposedly said sky3ds would be really simple to block via a firmware update.....guess it just depends on how "anti-piracy" karl really is, and how easy said block would be to implement if they dont want karl3ds to enable or even aid pirates, as it stands karl3DS looks kind of like a toolbox for sky3ds users, but i suppose karl3ds wouldn't be "enabling", just improving....and i think it was just the "enabling" they had an issue with really

I don't know why they would even bother/care. It isn't their job to fix flashcarts, it's Nintendo's. It would just be extra work that has no real upside. (Other than pissing people off which is always fun to do)

If they end up blocking Sky with no sacrifices Nintendo should be ashamed of themselves :teach:

But apparently its their job to prevent piracy, so If they manage to block sky then good for them, if not good for the Sky users.

Anyway folks the developers are gonna issue a statement on it, lets drop the conversation till we get the final word.

It's been said that they don't want their project to mass enable piracy. They've never said that they were actively stopping flashcarts from running. These are two different things. (Because without KARL, sky3ds is still going to run just fine).

But whatever, they'll comment on this new(er) shitstorm in a bit.

suppose it technically enables out of region piracy on the n3ds....but again it depends on how seriously they take the "anti-piracy" cause :P.......suppose we should just let them discuss and decide for themselves

The way I understand it, they just don't want a freely available, easy to use CFW that allows for people to install unsigned CIAs as easy as ISOs were to boot on the PSP. They aren't actively blocking piracy, just not enabling it by default.
