Don't forget to never leave your 3DS in sleep mode while in sysNAND since it can actually download updates for your firmware and then prompt you to update your firmware each time you boot up the console. This is actually dangerous since you can accidentally accept the prompt and update your firmware unintentionally. Always keep a backup of your 9.2 sysNAND safe somewhere.

I always put my 3DSXLs in sleep mode for homepassing and they never download anything. I have both their 9.2 sysNANDs backed up, but I know I won't make the mistake of updating them.

im kinda bummed out. my school starts on the 22nd and i don't think gateway will update in time for me to play a game before then. on the new 3ds

We're all waiting. Gonna have to find another way to pass the time I guess. I was hoping for it to be out before Monday because I'm going overseas... should have probably bought Sky3DS for now. :glare:

Im being optimistic for you guys...when us regular 3ds guys had to wait from November it became quite frustrating. I honestly think you will have some form of beta or even a stable release before then end of the month. It well worth the wait as painful as it may be.....you most def dont want to brick your new hardware!!

Once you boot into Gateway mode, you can safely remove the red card and them remove the SD card from the red card if needed. You may want to do this if you are planning on sharing the Gateway red card with other people and using .CIA
It is actually advised to not leave the red card in while your 3DS is in sleep mode because the red card gets quite hot and can be actually damaged.

I have never heard that before? WTF

Once you have your emunand set up, split your NANDs by formatting the sysNAND. This way you get rid of a few bugs and you can just remove the wifi profile from sysNAND which makes it impossible to connect to the internet while in sysNAND. It can still update using a game cart with a newer update though I guess.

It'd be better to format emuNAND since you wouldn't have to lose everything (either way you would do some pretty hefty modding on emuNAND)

I have sysnand 4.5 and emunand 9.4, is there a play coin setter that can set the play coins on emunand without the use of a flash cart?

How do you have emuNAND updated to 9.4 if you aren't using a flash cart?
Unless you mean you have setup emuNAND with the red card and don't want to use it anymore, Only way now is too boot BigBlueBox in the red card, install the cia and you can pretty much install all games via .CIA format.
Of course, you'd need to boot into emuNAND each time, and that needs the red card.

started with 9.2 sysnand
used browser exploit to backup sysnand and format emunand
used browser exploit to downgrade sysnand to 4.5
installed profile exploit with DSTwo cart
used profile exploit to boot 9.2 emunand, updated through settings to 9.4

what is bigbluebox, are there tutorials for installing it?

Do you have a red card right now?
If not, how did you update emuNAND to 9.4?

I'm not him, but I did a similar set up. You don't actually need a Gateway Card to do this, which is what the problem is.

Gateway Browser Exploit to Backup NAND -> Downgrade to 4.2 -> Use DS flashcard (I used AceKard, but he used DSTwo) to run DS Profile Exploit -> Format Emunand -> Run emunand through DS Profile Exploit "classic mode" -> Update to 9.4.

I'm using MT-card software for my Emunand, so I'm not sure if that matters. But that's the process I used, and he seems to be doing. At no point is a Gateway card needed for any of that.

For his answer, he actually can't pirate or install CIA files, since he doesn't have a gateway. Instead, he can install the CFW onto a separate SD card using again, a similar emunand setup. There's a guide posted in some other thread.

Though, as someone who doesn't have a Gateway. Is redcard the 3DS card, or the DS card? If it's the DS one, any DS flash card should work for the steps (besides gateway exclusive features, naturally). For the other, I don't think there's any non-gateway solution.

Edit: Without Gateway, you can only run homebrew/install cia files on 4.X, not on 9.X.

Huh, I didn't know Classic mode could be used to avoid Gateway red card checks (To make you buy their product)

This is on 4.5, and I'm using MT software, as I mentioned. It's functionally identical to Gateway's classic from what I can tell. Gateway's DS Profile thing popped up as well when I used the launcher, but it didn't load my emunand, despite it saying it was possible (press x to continue anyway). But that might just be because it's an "MT" emunand. As I said, I simply followed a guide elsewhere here on GBATemp. I'm guessing many other "noobs" did as well.

But yea, no Gateway card is needed. A regular DS flashcard is enough to get the profile exploit going. And even though it doesn't detect a gateway/mt card, it lets you continue on.

I think I read that they stopped allowing it after 6.0 (meaning this wouldn't work on 9.2 sysnand) due to the classic 6.0+ saves. I haven't tried it on that yet, so I can't say.

Can you format sysnand and then restore things you had on it? Will my saves for retial cats still be good after a format of sysnand?

I'm curious, what difference does it make whichn nand you format? I formatted my SysNand just so I didn't have to redownload my games, but are there any advantages to formatting emu?
