Maybe what they meant to say was "by the end of 'a' week" but accidentally (due to perhaps even language barrier) typo'ed and put "the" instead. After that point it was copy and paste away. The whole time they thought they were telling everyone they had 7 whole days! A few days later they started responding with 2-3 days, which would fall in line with their first statement at that point.

I don't know why the lack of EmuNAND matters. Couldn't you backup the SysNAND, flash the 4.5 CIAs using the new exploit, and have a downgraded system?

Don't get your hopes up. I don't even think Gateway themselves have a date set.

I think its pretty clear that they are just being overly optimistic, they aimed for the end of the week but missed, they aimed for "a couple of days" and also missed.

I saved this page in my favorites as 'gbatemp.net/threads/gateway-3ds-working-on-the-new-nintendo-3ds.375107/page-999'.
So that i can read the newest posts in this topic.
Maybe i should alter the page number to 9999.:hateit:

You are a sick sick person who needs MANY MANY MANY years of psychiatric therapy. :-)

I think doing anything to the actual system nand is just way to risky... on that note, go ahead and try it, but post the results for the rest of us :P

I do-diddly-dun it guys, bought two new 4.5 3DS XL's for the boyfriend and I.

It simulates a legit cart, but not nearly as well as it can. It's possible for nintendo to tell the difference.

It's close to 1:1, but not quite there yet. If nintendo includes in the next update for the 3ds to look for the irregularities, sky is dead.

If they change the key for 3ds games, sky is limited to only older games.

The biggest flaw with sky is the lack of an updateable cart. Once it's gone it's gone.

They tried to get it done by the end of the week and missed.

But "look for irregularities" would end up blocking slightly defective legitimate carts and etc, it'd have to be a lot more refined than that. But I get where you're coming from, I still don't think nintendy will block it myself.

If ninty changed the key wouldn't that at the very least limit sky3DS to the current pool of 3DS games?

yup. I can see them doing it with N3DS games at least.

To each their own, I think the big N is willing to take that risk. There is a difference in quality between flash carts and 3DS carts, I think the irregularities will be reasonable enough, granted they should allow a threshold.

Congrats. Everyone seems to think getting a 4.X 3DS is hard or super expensive, it's not. I'm certain you'll be quite happy w/ your choice. I may be picking on them for their delays, but if you can use it GW's product rocks. It was a way better decision IMO than switching to a Sky.

That said, I can't roll my 9.2 XL (it came w/ 5.X installed and was supposed to be my "legit" unit) back to 4.X and neither can the people w/ their 9.2 3DS's who I gave GW's to. While I can use my GW right now on my 4.5 unit I still have ~$150in GW's I have a real interest in getting working... So I'll probably keep mocking them until release. :-)
