I don't think you know how to use that word correctly.

Except you can't go to 2.09 cause it's less then 2.7.mmmm, with version numbers I think it makes more sense for 2.9 to represent 2.09.
That way, you can make a minor update (but not a tiny one) after 2.9 and have somewhere to go that isn't 3.0.
going 2.7, 2.8, 2.9, 2.10 seems better than going 2.7, 2.8, 2.9, 2.91 or 2.95.
Software engineer here. Revision numbers don't correspond to their decimal-numeric counterparts
ie
2.9 != 2.90 != 2.90000
There can be more than one decimal place in the number, and they simply reflect revisions in the software. The leftmost numbers are more significant than numbers to their right, and their value is simply the number displayed (don't assume factors of ten).
So 2.9 refers to major software release '2', minor revision release '9'. If there's a third number, it usually refers to bug fixes.
Of course it completely depends on the developer - none of this is standardized in a formal way.
This is a huge revision for the Gateway software, so we can probably expect this to be version 3.0. They may even completely rebrand themselves for this release, who knows.
my stats are inaccurate.

I guess you can go 2.9.1
2.9-3.0 means something somewhat major happened.

Well said, would have pulled up an article for everyone but I'm on my phone atm lolSoftware engineer here. Revision numbers don't correspond to their decimal-numeric counterparts

You're right, that would be my perceived right to expression under my country's constitution and laws.Your saying that doesn't give you the right to spout whatever bullshit you want.
