Pretty sure he did, just poor communication, making sure people could use a game to update to a working FW was an essential thing for them and no games have 9.0/9.2 afaik.
In fact I don't think 9.1 even exists.

The email simply confirms what we already suspected, it will be released on / near new years. Considering how conservative Gateway are with time estimates it means that it will definitely be done before then.
