Alrighty, so here's the deal. I'm playing Persona Q, and it has DLC personas you can summon for free for the first time (it costs a lot of money after the first summon). I summoned them, but since they're really powerful, I decided that I didn't wanna basically cheat, so I reloaded the save I made beforehand so they'd still be free. However, in the old save it shows I've already summoned them once, but I no longer have them.

My question is, is it possible to reset this behavior somehow? I was wondering if anyone has done this or something similar. It may be as simple as the DLC having a "summoned" flag and me 1'ing it, with a simple reinstallation fixing it. But then it'd be rather easy for people to cheat and get infinite amounts of DLC items, so that makes me believe there's something else I'd need to do.

It might be the save file...

I installed the DLC pack then summoned a single DLC persona, saved, and quit. I then deleted all the DLC and reloaded that save file. The persona I summoned was still in the compendium while the other DLC persona were not.
So it's possible that the game checks whether the persona is present in your compendium. If it is, the DLC does nothing. If it's not, the DLC shows up with a cost of 0.

After summoning the personae, I then loaded a save from before summoning. I didn't have the DLC personae (obviously), but it showed them as costing yen to summon, meaning if that data is being saved somewhere, it's not the save file, but possibly with the DLC data.

Did you reinstall the DLC after deleting it?

Not during the above test. I deleted the DLC and then loaded the save file (with the DLC still deleted).

But if you loaded a previous save file from before summoning how did the persona get into your compendium?
Also, wouldn't that support my theory that if the persona is already present in your compendium then they would cost yen?

The personae are added to your compendium when you activate the DLC. Otherwise, it'd be impossible to get the DLC personae in the first place, since they wouldn't be in your compendium. That's my reasoning behind my belief that the DLC data may have a "summoned" flag.

Yes, but they aren't added permanently. Which is why only single persona I summoned shows up in the compendium after deleting the DLC.

My theory is that if a persona isn't present in the compendium, the DLC entry shows up with a cost of 0. Once you summoned it, a compendium entry is created which "masks" the DLC entry. So if you remove that compendium entry the DLC entry will once again show up with a cost of 0.

Hmm... I think I still have the DLC .cia on my SD card, so I could reinstall it without having to connect it to my computer. I might try that tomorrow.
