Gateway, if they actually release their update, offer the objectively better card. However, until then, they offer nothing but promises.
I'm probably as anti-SKY3DS as anyone can get, but I can admit that Gateway is being pretty frustrating at the moment.

It's not hard to update the community every 2nd or 3rd day or so. I don't care how long the update takes to release, just keep us informed and give us a rough estimate on when to expect the update.
"Soon" or "very soon" or "not months" is not good enough. Not one month after you announce it.
This, this and this.

I don't honestly care if there's people here who waited eons for their updates. Before they waited multi-rom, they could still play! Before that, they had no idea Gateway would exist!

Worse! They PROBABLY "suffered" as anxiously as we did. Its just that everyone feels this "accomplishment" now that they're home free.

Whoever comes here, speaking with a dull stomach is, quite honestly, full of sh*t.

Please, be a little considerate.

I think the gateway team are just trying to make sure that it is harder for competitors to reverse engineer their latest launcher/exploit since it breaks the 4.X limit. They wouldn't want more clones to have a piece of the cake...
At this point you could guess anything.

"I think the gateway team are just trying to secure a partnership with Nintendo to create a new game, Gateway Adventures".
"I think the gateway team are just trying to build a automaton that seeks out and terminates fake Gateway cards".
"I think the gateway team are just trying to work out an advertising deal in which Justin Beiber sings their new themesong: Gateway To Your Heart".

I personally think they're engrossed in an in-office ping pong tournament to decide who gets to upload the update. Currently there is no end in sight.

You got me, I LOL'd. I actually did, so congrats. :grog:

But the guess that they are obfuscating their launcher is a pretty good guess, given that they were prepared to enter brick code into their Launcher to deal with the same problem.

"Don't worry guys! We only need another 86 days to implement 23 more stages of obfuscation and a battery overvolter."

I got my gateway about 2 weeks before multirom, so i had little to no wait, but i remember the forums, man people were pissed lol "OH 6 MONTHS STILL NO MULITROM GATEWAY FULL OF SH!T!!" 2 weeks later .. "I ALWAYS BELIEVED IN GATEWAY".

But I agree I just want a little more information. Dont know who im kidding im buying a N3DS anyway might aswell put my spare XL on ebay now.

Probelm is when they announce a bit more. The people go berserk when these features are not in or just a bit off.
I see posting all over the forums with WHEN WHEN WHEN and WHY WHY WHY followed by It has to be BEFORE Christmas or else I sell my recently bought card and buy a Sky3DS card. The only I give these people is WAIT. It will be done.
I got my Gateway for 2 weeks now and cannot use it ATM. But the prices since then are going up for that card.
I think mostly these people who are posting on other forums about the situation are just plain kids or young adults (around 25 or so) which are impatient because they were born into a world where nearly everything is available for them to buy right now.

God these posts are useless.

1) Within any community there will always be people that complain no matter what features are announced. This is not a reason for a developer to distance themselves from their community.

2) We know it will be done at some point. Nobody seriously said "it will never be done". We are already currently waiting. We have the right to voice our displeasure at being kept mostly in the dark.

3) The rising price of Gateway is irrelevant. Why even mention that? Which websites are raising their prices? By how much? Are you just making this up? What does this have to do with anything?

4) Yeah, expectations shift with the times. We live in a world where developers usually keep their fans up to date with their progress, it's called a developer blog. It's not hard to do. If a particularly slow developer chooses to not keep their fans up to date, they should expect some...disappointed fans.

Again, this.

I'm wondering that maybe because of the taboo nature of flashcards and their legality in many parts of the world they choose to stay secretive in order to avoid legal problems and keep a low profile. But I would love it if Gateway had even something as basic as a Twitter to keep fans up to date.

Twitter is fine. Anything aside from GATEWAY_EMAILBOT, I can't take him anymore.

gateway reminds me cube world developer lol
I was actually going to mention Cube World before. They're the best and more extreme example of a slow developer with terrible communication.

If mods want to merge this or lock this, then feel free to do so since there other threads regarding Gateway's upcoming 9.2 support.

However, since reading through some of the information, it appears to be getting clogged down a bit to me, so thought this would be okay to submit for the guys here to see.

Anyway, onto the latest news. I emailed the team some days ago regarding 8.1 firmware support since I obtained a New JP 3DS on 8.1, as their announcement was a bit vague regarding lower firmware support.

This is what I got back this afternoon:-

So it seems emunand 9.3 will be released in the near future and that they are testing 9.3 now, which is good.

Why is this irrelevant? It's a good point noting that prices might go up, leading to a discussion whether or not to buy it now. Of course it's 'simple' trade off (buy now and wait, or buy later for a higher price with 100% security of everything working) - but that doesn't make it less relevant. Certainly not until GW comes with the update. I'm sure there's lots of people here in this dilemma.

Ahh, so 9.3 sysnand COULD still work with the new update. The post on the site made it seem like it definitely didn't, this could be good.

Yeah, looks like that. Plus, if native 9.3 sysnand is not supported from release, I should be able to use Emunand 9.3 on Sysnand 8.1 from what they said.
