Question guys:

Is it possible to accidently buy a FAKE Micro SD from an oficial retailer (like say, a physical store in one of my country's big shopping malls, for example)?

I've always wondered if that could happen.
As long as you buy the good brands (Samsung, Sandisk) you should be fine.
Here at my local shop I've seen store brands with generic micro SDs and some flashy adapters. Wouldn't go near them.
So When they hit select, it shows all the rom backups that are on the SD card? I have never used a gateway cart before. But its a good thing, everytime i tried to buy a cheap Cubic Ninja (Jap version) i was refunded my money! XD Time to buy this! :D Where is the best place to get one? Or does it backup the whole game on an SD card?
If you mean to buy a Gateway card, go here.
Also if you mean to say if you can backup retail cartridges, then yes, Gateway does support that function. Though it is not guaranteed whether that function will be carried over to the new update.
Will it support the e-shop titles and emunand?
emuNAND is not confirmed. All we can do now is wait.
eShop titles will work, but you will need the latest firmware if you want to go online.

eShop titles? Yeah. EmuNAND? No idea.

Edit: Damn you Kaptain :( ...

I usually dabble only in SanDISK. They've NEVER failed me :)
Thank you.

Ok so it was all the backups that were on the card then, thats cool :) I will purchasing one when I can :) thanks! Though it sucks that a lot of my games are bought from the US eShop lol on my 3DS XL.

There's a way to backup games bought from the eShop, although it's a sightly complicated process (and it has to be ported to this new currently unavailable exploit).

The best you can do is downloading them from the internet.

I wonder if the Sky3DS method and Gateway's new method are related in any way. It's clear Gateway's new offering is much more expansive than Sky3DS, but it would seem weird if two distinctly different exploits appeared at the same time.

What's really interesting is the fact that we'll be able to update preexisting carts without the use of a 4.5FW 3DS. Maybe Gateway expanded on the verification vulnerability Sky3DS is apparently using to deliver a payload? Guess we'll just have to wait until the update is officially released.

I've heard of that one before, but I haven't seen a source.

I think the biggest reason we didn't see emunand is well, if it was written GW next to the settings then who's to say they were showing off a new exploit at all? They could have been on 4.x booting into 9.x emunand..the only way to prove it was running on system 9.0 was to leave it in sysnand.

Also emunand isn't some crazy hard thing to do with full blown access like they have, write a NAND image to ds a redirect the 3ds reading the NAND to sd obviously some patches are required but no one needs to worry gateway will obviously deliver and all the speculators will look stupid....again

There's no source, it's just the educated guess of many people judging by the lack of any installation or launching of exploit on the 3DS. It's literally just plug and play after loading a rom to the SD card with the diskwriter.

The other explanation is a private key leak. My prediction is all will be revealed when Gateway releases their new support. If it involves launching some kind of privately built and signed code on the 3DS without initiating an exploit or installation beforehand, then you will know keys got leaked.

It was a New 3DS LL, so there's no way it could be on 4.x

I would assume it depends on the country more than anything. In the US this would be near impossible to happen. In Hong Kong (which I realize is not actually a country) it would probably be much more likely. I have no idea what it would be like in your country. You can't just go by the brand of the card, because they put out fake cards using brand names sometimes. But if retail stores in your country are reliable in general, you probably should be safe. If they aren't...

It has something to do with the themes, Im sure of it! BTW I dont get why so much fuss about the emuNand feature? I mean GW 1.0 did not have such a thing and everybody was happy. 4 days ago people were freaking out about the douchy rumors that GW is supporting only one game per card with no extra features whatsoever, and now we get the Holy Grail of ports and people are still complaining?! Psshh, I was expecting from the start the 1 game per card feature - imagine the hype I got when I first saw the video. They clearly have kernel access so emunand is around the corner.

Well people are accustomed to emuNAND now; it's really hard to take away something that people already had access to, or know has existed. It's no question that emuNAND gives extremely great value to the card, so I think all Gateway fans are hoping it's put in with this upcoming 9.0-9.2 update.
