OK, that is a valid point. I just saw "CIA Support" in the video and didn't give it a second though. Is installing CIA files in the system Nand actually dangerous? has anyone bricked a 3DS that way?

Just avoid installing CIAs from random users AND also wait for multiple confirmations of other users on if they don't give problems or if they do.

So far, no CIA has caused my emuNAND to stop working. At times, they may freeze the system (for example, some themes), but I have been able to delete them and reapply with the DevMenu.

i doubt anyone has installed CIA directly to system nand because they have Emunand for that but i did have errors installing CIA to Emunand which couldn't be resolved without formatting the Emunand & start from scratch.

You will never install a CIA to sysNAND, as you need kernel permissions to run and install stuff from DevMenu.

You don't know what you are saying, do you?

SysNAND=/= no kernel access

Did you even read? he's asking if you can brick your system by installing a CIA to your NAND instead of SD, and no, you can't write anything to your real nand in the first place.

Seriously... I just corrected you above and you still don't get the point.

You CAN install CIAs to the SysNAND if you don't start an emuNAND partition.

Isn't the point of Emunand to be able to run games/apps that require a firmware higher than the one you have (which for current Gateway users is 4.5)? Isn't it then pointless to work on Emunand for firmware 9.2 when that already is the highest firmware available? They can add that in later once there's a need for it. I'd say we are still a long time away from having games released that need the features of a future "10.x" firmware

Emunand is essential because it's what allows us to update the console and keep the exploit.
This new update simply can't be released without it.

This is what they replied to me. If they wanted to wait, I doubt this would have been their answer:

For that exact reason it would be VERY RETARDED for them not to wait until the EU/NA release. I'm 100% sure Nintendo will patch the exploit they use on the new consoles if it's released too soon.
Nintendo is already trying to ban Gateway from online marketplaces. They didn't even present a release date so they can very well delay the launch until the problem is fixed.

yeah i can also confirm that installing bad/incorrect .cia files can cause some issues, like i installed an american theme that was repacked to try make it region free and it kinda broke the theme functionality in emunand....it still booted and worked fine, i just couldn't access the theme menu any more(even after removing it via dev menu), not sure if a system format may of helped, but iirc you now have to update to the latest FW to perform a system format......which could be a issue once nintendo release a update that blocks the new method

TL: DR, it should be fine as long as you make sure you dont install random crap, but emunand would be a lot safer
