Hacking Gateway 3DS working on the New Nintendo 3DS.

Why the fuck would you need another 3ds @ 4.5 firmware, to play games on a 3ds @ 9.2 firmware? What dumb ass asked this question?

Because people thought that you needed a 4.5 3DS in order to update the card.
It's like the old R4, you couldn't use it on your new DSi until you updated by running an NDS patch on a DS or DS Lite.

They wanted to know if a 4.5 3DS is required for an FPGA update before it could be used on a 9.2 console. Not really that dumb of a question.

I've seen people post that their Australian N3DS came with 9.0 so its probable that most will - though there is no guarantee that all of them do.

The biggest feature is mounting/playing roms, i can't deny that its a important feature tho.

Isn't the point of Emunand to be able to run games/apps that require a firmware higher than the one you have (which for current Gateway users is 4.5)? Isn't it then pointless to work on Emunand for firmware 9.2 when that already is the highest firmware available? They can add that in later once there's a need for it. I'd say we are still a long time away from having games released that need the features of a future "10.x" firmware

Emunand is important because otherwise you wont be able to install CIA files,Themes & Updates unless you want to start messing about with actual system Nand installing all kind of crap on it which is not a good thing.

OK, that is a valid point. I just saw "CIA Support" in the video and didn't give it a second thought. Is installing CIA files in the system Nand actually dangerous? has anyone bricked a 3DS that way?
