Can someone please tell me what is the need and benefits I get from installing that new devmenu? And what is the .cia files? Is it like applications to work on the devmenu or something? Please tell me what is the use of all of this.
And also by attempting to install these stuff, am I facing the threat of bricking my 3ds?

Thank you.

From what I've read so far, devMenu lets you install ".cia" packages directly to your SD card, .cia files contain either decrypted games or apps ready to install with devMenu.

And I think all this process is done in the emuNand, so there's no actual risk of bricking your 3ds, but don't quote me on that tho, I haven't tried it yet.

After the gateway Public release of 2.6, Im introduced to "CIA" files and Devmenu. Can someone tell me what these basically are?

hey broski, if you knew about wii hacking stuff, they had .wad files. .cia files are similar, it's something to install to your 3ds.
like, you could make mario kart into a cia to install, install it with the devmenu, and then it would be on your 3ds, just like a game downloaded from eshop.

although, using it together with gateway is not that cool, i mean... at least for regular games. you need the gateway card in your 3ds to boot into emunand to use the devmenu tool, so why not simply have the mario kart .3ds rom on your gateway card?
anyway, there will be other things we can install, like dlc, updates, etc, in the form of cia :) but in my opinion using it with GW for just converting 3ds to cia, is not that great.

ok maybe I found my culprit, from left to right upside-down the inside of my 3DS Cartridge slot looks like this:

123456789 etc

"4-6" are missing those gold pins that are bent a certain way. Not sure how my GW was running this whole time or why it still reads DS games, but I take it this has to be replaced, right? Also been making an obnoxious squeaking noise and possible moving rattled it...

hmm sorry, that's annoying for you.
you could try bending them back i guess... good luck :)

Is there any chance that we can have something like RemoteJoy(PSP) for the 3DS?
I mean, to transfer the 3DS's screen onto PC with Wifi, for example. Or is this technically not possible yet?

I have two questions :
1-Will the latest gateway 2.6 allows us to install Dsiware ?
2-How to make a cia file?

I just got a 3DS with 4.1 firmware, I installed the Gateway .nds from the website with a R4 card I had and now I can backup games and backup my NAND.

Is there a way to create an EmuNAND partition without the red card? Thanks in advance!
Yes, simply load the NDS exploit then enter the gateway menu via system settings -> NDS Profile. Then select the format emunand option.

Ive got a gateway card running monster hunter 4g on it, and i was wondering if anyone knew how to enable the online...

I used my own header from a few different games, and i got smash to work online, but i cant get monster hunter...

Is it because its a japanese game? or am i just attempting to use the wrong headers?
You're probably using the wrong header. Which game is the header from and did you edit it in any way.

I tried it with 2 headers, the one from kirby triple deluxe and the one from legend of zelda link between worlds.

I didnt edit them, i just dumped the rom, exported the header and then imported it to monster hunter. But then i split the monster hunter rom...

is that whats killing it?

Well, The general rule is that header from a larger game will work on a smaller or equal sized game but not vice versa (assuming you didn't edit).
Kirby, Zelda, and Smash all happen to be 1GB.
Monster hunter is 4GB I believe. Which is why it didn't work.

I tried to run Fantasy Life USA on my 3DS after injecting a header from LOZ OOT.

But it didn't work. Can someone help and try to see whether any other header works?
Open the header in hex editor and check line 00000040.
Mine works with
C2 FA 00 90 00.....

Does the MT-Card work on version 7.1? I thought I read somewhere that it did, but I'm not sure.

If not, is there any reason I shouldn't update to the latest version right now? Like would that prevent ssspwn from working? Right now I have 7.1, in case that wasn't obvious.
