was my power socket. go figure. luckily I had surge protectors and breaker for the house went off, only to notice that I lost power to the whole house,so now I'm stuck with a $220 beeswax-coated black box of junk on my TV stand.

I never realized that an action as dull as unplugging the system would screw everything over and cause it to have a computerized stroke (gg nintendo),so I fiddled with the socket and replaced it (which meant giving it power and removing it ~3 times).

can't send it back either as this was a clearance item (staples stopped selling consoles) and sending it for repair on the other side of the world sounds pretty wasteful as you have a juicy THREE WEEKS to do something else. sounds boring as hell.

does autopilot mode still work after being unplugged or...?

Pretty much any electronic that suffered power outage during firmware update is doomed to be bricked.

You have two options, either send it to Nintendo for repair or sell it AS-IS on ebay.

PS: Might be a good time to invest UPS to safeguard against this type of damage in the future.

my xbox 360 got through five system update interruptions since the day I bought it (2008) and it still works great, even with a glitch chip. don't tell me the wii U doesn't have a NAND nor a power regulator.

if "any electronic" would be that fragile I'm sure people would break iphones beyond cracking screens and people would be dumping more computers compared to now.

Wii U updates firmware as it downloads, whereas others download first then update.

The point is once system starts flashing in the update an interuption WILL kill it. The only way to protect against this is if you hook the system to an UPS (uninterruptible power system). UPS is a battery backup system that kicks in when it detects power outage or dirty power.

I know what a UPS battery is,I have one for my old machines (NES,VIC-20,2600) but that only keeps the power supply from bursting (unstable tension, etc)

and endoverend will a regular wii power supply do the trick?

alright,so it's been an hour having it on and still nothing but a blank screen and a solid blue dot. a bit skeptical on unplugging it.

GO ahead and unplug it, nothing you can do at this point.
Try resetting the ac adapter like I said

tried it. still the same... also realized that after the system's turned on,the disc driver doesn't work. first disc spins, but not the second one.
