Quick question for those in the know. The DS was a region-free platform, so any DS game will work on any 3DS regardless of region encoding, this much is clear to me. The DSi on the other hand was region locked, so it could only play DSi software from it's region. Here's my question - will a DSi Enhanced game work on a 3DS from a different region? Will it work fully, or will the DSi features be restricted? Thank you in advance for your response!

It's been a while since I've heard anything about that, but I do believe the DSi games (even just DSi Enhanced games) will be restricted, as in you can't play them whatsoever on your foreign 3DS. If you dump the game to a flashcart and run it through the flashcart, it should run in DS legacy mode, no DSi Enhancement, sorry.

Yes, some of my additional research proves your statement. It was simply a matter of importing a game cheaply or buying it locally dearer, so it's no big deal. ;)

Glad I could help and that I remembered properly. Remembering something I glossed over a couple of years ago is a bit of a feat for me. xD

I still like the fact that if I buy the game legitimately from a store it may or may not work wheras if I pirate it, it'll be sure-fire. :rofl2: Gotta love Nintendo's retarded region locking, can't get enough of it. :P

I think they would not work, as the card detection changed with the DSi, enabling region locking and dsi enhanced games. Just my 2¢
Oh, I'm well-aware of that, I was just wondering if the region lock was restricted to DSi features since normal DS-compatible software works fine regardless of the region. Just making sure. ;)

Yeah, as much as I like Nintendo, they're slow and backwards. With how often they've shot themselves in the foot, it's probably a good thing they have such a loyal fanbase. xD

I actually hate there region lock system because of it gamers are forced to buy an out of region system for playing foreign games.
