Recently I started messing with the deflicker option in Smash Bros. and discovered that well there's actually a pretty big difference in how sharp your image will look either in 480i or 480p, I was looking at the GBA emulator Nintendo used in a few demos and neither use deflicker. And that emu only supports one display size which is 480x320, no deflicker and since it ends up so small that not using deflicker makes small details sharp and brighter. Because of this I added an option in RetroArch to disable it and imitate Nintendo's emu, it's also worth mentioning that using bilinear filtering already takes care of flickers so why have them both at the same time?

In the case of WiiMC it's a bit different as I'm imitating the Netflix channel which doesn't use it.
YouTube does use it however and that app is really trashy in general. The blurring actually helps YB's poor 360p encodes(the ones the Wii uses normally).

EDIT: Minor update, added two variants one for DVDs and one for square pixels:

WiiMC horizontal width 720, no deflicker

WiiMC horizontal width 704, no deflicker

Do you have the retroarch builds without deflicker?
I only have VBA Next and Gambatte compiled, BUT RA is currently going through all sorts of changes, so just to note; there are bugs. There's a new config layout which iirc is not compatible with the old one so backup and remove your old cfgs, you could also use the configs included. The viewport for both is set up for screen res 608x480 so use that for a centered/correct image.
There are a few personal changes, but nothing worth mentioning.

Might just be me but VBA can only read sram and not write it in this version, so you'll need to use states to progress.

Hm, I should have tested more thoroughly before releasing. It looks like something during compile time is missing, and is making videos with internal stylized subs play extremely choppy, like 1 frame per second, the subs don't even render. Turning subtitles off will let the videos play normally.

Sadly enough the user that released the ustealth build of WiiMC followed the same instructions I did to compile and both builds share the same problem. The size of the .dol is also down by 100 KB or so.

EDIT: Fixed and updated the .dol (thanks Tantric)
