Hello,

I have 2 question about the gateway 3ds 2.3b;
I have "format emunand" so now I have "GW3D 8.1.0-19E" and a working internet connexion.
1) So, when I star Pokemon X the 3ds offers a Game update via Eshop, can I do it?
2) If the rom is .3ds and not .3dz, local playing is allowed and online playing is blocked?

Thank

1) yes
2) Think so

Can you list the steps you did that allowed you to update to the new gateway firmware properly? I'm personally having a problem.

Sure. I replaced the launcher.bat thing, and then went onto my (already-existing, 7.2) emunand, and updated it. Then it was all set.

So you never had to update your gateway card (or do it multiple times) when you boot into Gateway mode? This is what's happening to me.

Do you press R button while loading Gateway Menu? It forces gateway card update. If you want to load Gateway Menu, you have to press L button...

I copied the full contents of the SD card and the content of micro sd card of the blue on my computer (in case of problems)

I then emptied the blue card and copied the contents of this file in the new version (Blue Card (R4))
I then replaced the Launcher.dat file from the SD card with the new one.

I then put the blue card in the DS and installed the app (to make sure the installation)
I then put the red card and via the options (DS profile and pressing L) I arrived in the gateway menu and I selected emunand format.
After a few minutes I passed in the Gateway mode (inportant) and is the last day of the system via the console options. Warning system version before the last days must be in the form: GW3D 4.XX-XXX.

I then rearrange the icons in the system menu in order to have the settings in the middle of the screen when I'm on the sysnand and have all the icons in emunand

Alright. So this is my 2nd time updating the emuNAND. Last time I did it, I was certain I was under GW 2.3b, and of course that I was on the emuNAND. I also updated from the options.

Last time I updated, the system crashed no matter what when booting to GW mode. So I re-did ALL the steps, and reformatted the emuNAND. Now I'm trying the update again with the emuNAND, again, via the options. If it happens again, I'll need help.

You don't have to format emumand if system hangs while booting gateway mode. Even if Gateway team released 2.3b as a public relase, it still be a beta. Emunand on 2.3b has some problems, like long boot times and system crash while emunand boot... You simply have to force power off and then load emumand again. It will work! Little hint: when you open ds profile in order to boot emunand, if 3D led turns off, then emunand is really booting, if it stays on, than it crashed. 3ds xl hasn't 3D light, so if you're on 3ds xl... I won't see anything that can help you to get to know if it's loading emunand...

Alright. So what fixed my problem was that I had to replace the launcher.dat AFTER I update the emuNAND. I'm not sure if this was something obvious that I had to do or something only I had to do, but that one little change made it finally boot up in GW mode with the updated emuNAND. Thanks for the help guys.

Edit: I waited as long as possible and tried as much as possible to get the updated emuNAND to boot, but nothing worked. I waited as long as 5-10 mins, which would be unacceptable if it actually did finally boot. The method I mentioned above this paragraph fixed my issue.

If it stuck while loading emunand, you simply have to hold power button until your 3ds turns off. Now you can boot emunand successfully.

" tried as much as possible " <--- read that. I did reboot. Into GW mode. Many times. This was my problem.

When i updated from 2.2 to 2.3 i had to reboot my 3ds 4 times before getting emunand to work. I don't think that your problem was not updated emunand, since i updated gateway with 4.5 emunand and i updated my emunand only after gateway update.

So if I am going from 2.2 omega with no updated emunand or anything, just bought the card and have been using that as is, what exactly would I need to do to update and be able to go online? Do I just need to copy the launcher.dat over to the SD card then load the gateway menu and backup my nand then do an update in there? I'm new to the 3ds flashcart scene and I don't want to screw anything up but I want to be on the most recent update and try to be able to go online.
