On the bright side, at least he didn't say Final Fantasy XIII.

Yes, we noticed - they're pushing NFC with these.Does anyone noticed, that the writing "new" look very similiar to "amiibo" in stylistics? Guess what could that mean?

Motherf... I just bought a 3DS XL 5 months ago and they're pulling this?! Watch this be the handheld Wii U, far superior to the old 3DS, but lack of disposable income prevents me from buying it for a long while.
Oh well, maybe with any luck the older 3DSes will have faster homebrew development, unlike the Vita, which Sony treats as nothing more than a PS4 accessory yet still fights against homebrew on it

I don't think that will be the case. There's 42 million 3DS'es out there and exactly 0 "New 3DS'es" because the new models aren't even released yet - I wonder on which front they have a better chance of selling their Amiibo figurines. If the peripheral isn't released though, no big loss - it's just NFC figurines, not a single tear shed.I think that we won't get the peripheral for 3DS, that was mentioned in amiibo commercial. It might appear, that it will be only in new 3DS to make more money...
So this has killed off Home brew for the current 3DS model.... I mean who will want to code their software for a "old" obsolete machine? I remember what happened in the days going from Gameboy pocket to Gameboy Color. All of the "New" games will not be backwards compatible.

Hue. Let's just say that the 3DS as a system was not created for such grand things. The PSVita on the other hand...Looking at your new avatar.... What will this mean for existing 3DS games that have slowdown? Will they continue to have the same slowdown, or will they get some benefit for it too? I have MGS3D of all things...![]()
Don't get off your high horse without a ladder - you'll hurt yourself! What Homebrew? 3ds hacking never really got off the ground. Yes you had the gateway, but thats far from being a workable hack. The day of hacking consoles to do more than what they were supposed to do seems to be over. What happened on the DS, psp, and Wii will most likely never happen again.
The 3DS won't magically stop being supported just because this revision is coming - I've gone through the DS era without ever having to upgrade to a DSi, I doubt that you'll *have* to upgrade to the New 3DS.I bought mine week ago... I feel worse...

Kinda don't like some design elements... The new speaker grille on the front, the volume slider on the left of the screen, change to microSD cards (not easily accessible), game card slot in the front...
I bought my 3DS XL Luigi Edition a few weeks ago. Never had a 3DS before that. I'm super happy with it, kinda wish I'd be able to buy some upgrades to have *some* features of the new model, though, like the conforming 3D view. I can live with a Circle Pad Pro (vs. C-stick) and a separate Nintendo Figurine Platform (vs. built-in NFC), though I'm hoping there's not going to be many "New 3DS" exclusive games. If the situation is like with the DSi vs. DS, that in the end it's just a handful of games exclusive to the better model, I can live with that.
One thing I do like is they updated the blocky design of the regular 3DS. Might go for the non-XL "New 3DS" at some point.
Very good question.DAMN IT! I just bought the 2DS yesterday! Why did I get rid of my 3DS XL in the first place....
