Since I switched to using my 64GB one, I've noticed it takes twice as long to copy files onto as my old 32GB card did. Is this normal or could it be faulty? Both are class 10. The 64gb one is Kingston and I'm not sure about the other as it doesn't say (got it from PC World).

No its just your 64gb one from PCWorld is a proper good manufactured card and is a way better make than your 32gb. I bought a 64gb PNY Elite and is a really good card from PCWorld. Knocked spots of these crappy San-disc or Transcends from these online places

I've found very little actual logic in the class ratings of SD cards. All of mine are Class10/UHS-1 yet get highly variable transfer rates, even among cards of the same capacity.

I just tested the write speed and the 64gb one is 4.58 MByte/s and the 32gb one is 13.7 MByte/s

Sorry my bad I read your comment wrong I thought you meant it took longer for your 32gb card in that case not sure but what i can assure you off your PCWorld card will last much longer!

Yes I understand now, your 32gb from PCWorld is a way better made card bud that is why, your other you probably bought of the net or somewhere a bit cheaper and is made badly.

I did, I got it from mymemory.co.uk because it was cheaper... My fault for trying to save money

I had 4 x 64gbs (1 Transcend, 3 San-discs), all returns, go back to mymemory.co.uk and evetually a refund squeezed out of them after tackling them on the phone about it, there cards are made in Taiwan and are badly made there not genuine, do not go there again you should of tried for a refund of them also MobyMemory is the same. Rest assured bud that card will go wrong evetually mine did just after 3 weeks of using them quite alot, they seemed to crash everytime after some hard use!. Have you tested it fully with h2testw cause mine came out as fake with all sorts of errors?

you mean if you just bought it? it's usually formated in FAT32 by default.

I mean off brand as in not a sandisk micro sd a generic brand micro sd. Would it still be of use if it only gives me the option to use ex fat or ntfs file system?

even if it's off brand you can format it the way you want.
just know that some manufacturer are selling fake cards (wrong capacity).

It's better to buy a brand one on reliable shops.

Run it with h2testw app (google it) and run the whole card all the sapce on it, should take about 2hrs or so to complete properly with no errors.

A class 10 card should have ~ 10Mbyte/s writing speed, so your 64Gig at 4,58Mbyte/s is probably a fake card which in reality is a rebadged class 4.

Despite the fact this is going way OT it is worth mentioning that card reader also plays a huge part here. Connected direct through my phone I get one speed, through the micro SD - SD adaptor I get another and in a mucro SD USB adaptor I get another again.
To say that Sandisk are crap and MobyMemory are crap is a little odd. I trust Sandisk implicitly and I've also bought from Mobymemory several times without issue, no fakes that I'm aware of to date. Looking at the admittedly small pile of non working micro SD cards in front of me all are generic no branders whilst my Kingston and Sandisk cards are fine. I know there are a LOT of snidey fake branded cards around and I've fallen foul of a couple of impulse Ebay purchases myself. By and large though the Sandisk are pretty darn good. The 64Gb Extreme card I have in my Note 3 takes an awful battering with files shuffled back and forth every day. Transfer rates are better than any other card I have including the Samsung pro.

All of my class-10s are legit, good brands from reputable retailers, and they range from 5MB/s to 8MB/s (plus or minus a bit depending on which PC/reader). The USB reader that came with my R4i gets even lower speeds (3-4MB/s), so it seems to depend a great deal on the reader you're using.

Hi was just wondering each time you format the gateway mode by removing the emunand and installing a new one does it give your system like a new ID because I want to make purchases from the shop and get services such as poke bank but afraid. I don't want to link a nnid, buy something, change the emunand version and then all my old purchases won't work anymore

No it doesn't. It's unique to the console because formatting emunand is just copying your sysNAND to a different partition on the SD.

Sooo your 100% sure it's safe to make purchases on the emunand using a nnid and if something did happen which would require formatting and reinstalling that my old purchases would work?

Also how come my virtual console games are not working under 4.5?
