So, I am currently trying to play a version of Resident Evil 0.

Originally a WFBS file, I loaded it on USB, filed it right, and it would show up on the USB loader, but only showed it takes up 0.0 GB. I would click it to start, but it would go to a black screen and remain there.

I then converted it myself to an ISO, first it wouldn't fit on the format of the USB (even though it's an 8 GB), then I fixed that, but it wouldn't show in GX. Or if it did, it GX would be super glitchy and not let me click on things.

So I then re-converted it back to WFBS using WFBS manger and filed it again, now it shows up on GX, has the sound that plays before you click the game to start it, says that it takes up 3.57 GBs, but when I click it, it does the black Screen again.

I know I am new to this, but I am struggling bad and it is really starting to frustrate me. I have been trying to play this since Friday. Can you guys help me out?

1. Relax. Format your USB stick in
FAT32.
2 .Create a folder named WBFS in the root of it.
3. Inside the wbfs folder, copy the game.
For example, my RE 0 iso is PAL, and in my HDD it is a RBHP.wbfs file inside a folder called Resident Evil 0 [RBHP08], which is located in the wbfs folder.
Also give us more info. Is this only an issue with RE0? Have you gotten other games to run? Have you set up USBLGX correctly?
Anyway, go to the USBLGX topic and post there.

To be honest, I haven't tried another game. But I am pretty sure. I followed a guy named "highTechman" tutorial. I got all the info from a post on these forums on how to Softmod. So I'm 90% sure it's all good.

I'll try the folder thing. I may have done that wrong. But my concern in when I have it in that format it won't let me load the game on it because the USB doesn't hVe the room, yet it's the only thing on it and it's an 8GB

/edit I changed it up but I ran into the same problem. I can't put the ISO on the drive because its too large for the FAT32 drive

Nope, something is definitely off. I tell you this, cause a FAT32 filesystem accepts files as large as 4GB. However RE 0 PAL version iso is 3,74GB. I assume NTSC is even less, cause it doesn't have to include as many different languages. So, that is not the cause. Do you have enough free space on the stick?

1. Format your USB stick again in FAT32.
2. Make sure that the partition is primary and active. Use a disk manager program, like Easeus on Windows.
3. Use Wii Back Up Manager from here: http://gbatemp.net/threads/wii-backup-manager-for-windows.188295/
and transfer RE 0 iso to the stick. It' ll automatically create the correct file structure.
Btw, keep in mind that your iso could very well be a bad download/bad rip btw. Try downloading it again or try another game too. For a test you could download a smaller ISO like New Super Mario Bros which is ~300-400 MB and see if you can run that at all. If not, then your setup is the issue.
Give it a go, so as to locate the root of the problem.

I have a feeling I that would work. When it's in ISO is 4.57, it's barely to big. When it's wbfs it's 3.57. My friend got it for me. He said this is one he got of a link in the comments on the torrent. I now have the problem of my homebrew not having USB GX Loader on it. I tried putting the file back on the SD card but it still doesn't show up. Any tips there?

Sorry I'm so noobish. Hahaha

Please don't take this the wrong way, but do you know what you 're doing? I'm not saying this in a bad way, i was where you are now a few years ago :)

Let's get this thing going right. First you have to get USBLGX up and running.
Download USBLGX latest version, download here: https://www.sendspace.com/file/xv2tgs
Unzip it and put it ON YOUR SD CARD AS IS.

Report back if you can now get USBLGX to run, and we'll go on from there.

Cool. Now do you have any games showing up in GX?
Try anyone of them.
1. Does it boot? 2. Does it play well? 3.Can you save your game?
If ALL 3 criteria are met, then we can move on to the final step.

Well, you must have a game so you can test... We can't just guess otherwise...

Copy RE0 to your stick you connect to the Wii or download another iso. Choose a small one like NSMB (~300-400MB) or Wii Sports (~500-600MB).
If you have any Wii game's original disk, put it in the Wii while running USBLGX and choose to rip it to your HDD. Simple.

Okay question. When it's on the stick as an ISO, will it be in the wfbs-RE- folders as an ISO or as a WFBS cause I got it load, but when I click start (the spinning disc) it bricks on a black screen. I looked and it's listed as WFBs on the drive.

I think you didn't do/read the above:

For example, my RE 0 iso is PAL, and in my HDD it is a RBHP.wbfs file inside a folder called Resident Evil 0 [RBHP08], which is located in the wbfs folder.

Do these:

Yea I think I did it wrong, currently trying that process again.

I tried to rip my Brawl from the Disc, it came up saying there was no disc in the drive

Keep in mind that Brawl is 7,6GB iirc. BTW, just so we are clear here, what is the storage you are using? Is it larger than 8GB?

16 GB USB.

Ok, it's enough. Just make sure to format it correctly (see above)

for some reason, when it converts, my ISO ends up trying to be a .rar file
Nope. This means you got a bad rip. If you are on windows, .iso files may have the same icon as a .rar or .zip file, btw.

Try downloading small games i suggested above.
It will take a few minutes of your time, instead of the hours troubleshooting for this bad RE0 iso ;).

Try those, and then we'll talk again.

Sorry Nakata, I'll also help you.

USBLoaderGX doesn't work with ALL filename.
The game need to be in the correct folder and with the correct name.

Best names and place :

usb:/wbfs/Resident Evil Archives Resident Evil Zero [RBHP08]/RBHP08.wbfs

the best way to install a game to a device is to use wii backup Manager, as it will convert the ISO to wbfs automatically, and it will place the file in the correct folder/name/format.

1. Download WiiBackupManager.
2. Launch it and go to Option > Settings > FAT32 & NTFS tab
3. Folder layout : Choose "Place files in separate sub-folder"
4. Naming style : choose "Title_" or "Title_[ID]" <--- this is the main reason why USBLoaderGX can't see the games! Don't use the default settings !
5. enable the option "Automatically update storage convention when drive is mounted" <--- this will rename the file already present in the correct format next time you list your games ;)

6. Go to "Titles" tab
7. Enable "Use Wiitdb titles"
8. enable "Use wiitdb titles for files and folders"
9. Click "update titles" button to download a list of game's titles.
Save the settings. You don't need to run it anymore.

How to install games in the correct format:
- Go to "Drive 1" tab.
- In the list on the left, Select the partition where you want to install your games (your USB Stick letter).
- Go to "File" tab, and select the game file (ISO, wbfs, rar, etc.), or the folder where you have your game file. it will appear in the list.
- Check the square in front of the game you want to copy to your USB
- Select Transfer > Drive 1, and wait for the game to convert and copy to your USB. If the game is bigger than 4GB, you will have two files (wbfs and wbf0). USBLoaders work fine with these two files.

You are done :)

The best part of this is I did all of this, and then was starting the last steps with putting it on my USB and everytime I select my USB it crashes WIIbackupManager

I am not making this up.. lol The modding Gods hate me.

The manager crash when you select the partition in the drop down list or when you Select the Transfer option?
I don't know how to fix your issue, except : re-format it to FAT32 with 32k/cluster, or try another USB device.

Maybe that's why nothing is displayed on USBLoaderGX.
Maybe you could also check if another homebrew can list the USB content. (for example with Wiixplorer, or an emulator).

Yea my smaller usb (2GB, that has my smaller games on it) works fine in WBM, but when I put my bigger one (16GB) in it crashes when I select it on the drop down, I have reformatted it every way..

Guess that means the USB is shot?
