Hello,

I use a R4i gold deluxe for my 3DS. I had emunand set up with the V4.0B1 v3.1 launcher.dat for the R4i.

I updated to V4.0B2 and the emunand doesn't boot up anymore. I did the 3DS setup again but doesn't work. After tapping on Nintendo DS Profile it takes me back to the v4.5 mode instead of the v7.0.x mode emunand.
What should I do? Should I reformat emunand? I would really prefer not to do this because I purchased Pokemon Y (it was a free promo back in March) and someone posted that reformatting also erases the purchase ticket and therefore means I never had the game in the first place.

I also purchased the Gateway cards. Not sure if that would help matters.

I'm still a novice in this area, and I consulted the FAQ but I'm still confused...

Thank you.

"I had emunand set up with the V4.0B1 launcher.dat for the R4i." <-- V4.0B1 does not support the creation of emunand am I right?

Did you setup your emunand using an old r4i launcher or did you use a gateway launcher? If you used the gateway launcher and have a gateway, I would try using the omega 2.2 and see if you can launch into emunand. If you used an older r4i launcher to create emunand you may need to wait until r4i officially supports emunand again.. "5.Because of the 3ds system's updating, emuNand is delayed." Did you try going back to V4.0B1 to see if it loads?

I think they removed EmuNAND functionality for the V4.0B2 release?

Deluxe Edition firmware 4.0b2 is released ! (2014-07-15)

change log:
1.Support Multi-ROM
2.Support FAT32&exFAT
3.Support up to 32GB tf card
4.Support online play(to be tested)
5.Because of the 3ds system's updating, emuNand is delayed.

Attention: For the limitation of memory space, the MH4 patch cannot be added in this update, sure you can play the MH4 through Deluxe Firmware 4.0B1.

Or I even think they never had EmuNAND to begin with?

Wait, I was mistaken. I used v3.1 to create the emunand. I went back to v4.0b1 now and emunand works. Doesn't work for v4.0b2.

I used the omega 2.2 launcher.dat and setup with the blue card from the Gateway website but it doesn't boot into emunand.

Sorry I was mistaken, I used v3.1 for the emunand. I'll edit my first post to lessen the confusion.

Ok that makes more sense lol If I were you I'd stick to V4.0B1 for now since emunand is working until they release V4.0B3 (or whatever they will call it) that will support emunand as well. Your only other option is to use your gateway since it's a superior card but you would have to reinstall your emunand and you would loose your pokemon Y along with the save :(

Is there no way to at least keep the Pokemon Y game? I...I'm willing to give up on the save at this point.

I guess I can switch between 4.0B1 and 4.0B2 now since the latter lets me play games like Dual Destinies while the former lets me play Pokemon and use Emunand....

Thanks for the advice though, I appreciate it.

Well I had a purchased game on my 3DS since it was a mario kart 7 bundle.. I backed up my SD card before creating my emunand partition. After I copied it all back to the SD (newly created emunand partition) everything I had originally loaded, including my mario kart 7 and save. I'm wondering if this would be the case for you but I dont know from experience since i've never used the eShop to purchase a game and I dont know if it would yield a similar result. If it does work the same way you could reinstall your emunand with gateway and reload your SD contents.

I suppose digital purchases might work like this, though someone said that the purchase DRM gets wiped with formatting. Your mario kart 7 survived so that might be profo. I don't suppose that the purchase was made in emunand would make a difference since it still uses the info on the SD card...

Hmm...I feel an urge to test this, but since no launcher.dat works with 8.0.x at the moment I can hold off on this.

That person was me, I think.
I believe you can restore your games on the SD card as long as you have a backup of it, even if you've lost the download tickets. Just, if you go into data management, it will check the tickets and notice they're missing and delete the game(s). But as long as you don't go there, you should be able to back up and restore your games.
...This is just a hypothesis, though. Take it with a grain of salt.

Ya you might as well hold off for now like you said until gateway supports 8.0.x or maybe r4i will release a firmware first that supports emunand (less likely). If you do try it later you should post your results so we know if this works with eShop games as well. Worst case scenario you would loose your save and you would have to load another Pokemon Y backup with your gateway..

Note to self: Do not go into data management lol good thing settings menu isnt working in 7.2

Understood. Thanks again for the help!

Will just have to remind myself not to go into Data Management....or take the hit and then post the results on gbatemp for the sake of others.

Don't mean to double post but one more question.

Does DLC act like the digital purchase with the DRM tickets or is it incorporated into the save?

So, I formatted Emunand to get rid of the R4i one and replace it with the Gateway version.

Backed up contents of the SD card and restored them when all was done.

Took the risk of going into Data Management and...

My Pokemon Y download was still there. Didn't delete anything, didn't check for tickets.
