Heya.

I play a lot of Minecraft and CSGO. Both of these games stutter a lot. CSGO is poorly optimised and it may just be the game, as I do not have that issue in any other games than these two.

Minecraft when a certain sound plays will freeze for a second and frames will drop. I used to have this issue and I remember fixing it, however I forget how. When I close google chrome when it has many tabs open it will subside for a while.

Any idea what could be causing this? It's not hardware related as no other games have the issue. It affects all Kinecraft versions I have on my PC, lwjgl is updated. Lowering everything to lowest possible settings allows me to get 800 FPS inside of a cave and the frames will drop to 200, however playing like this is less than optimal.

Thanks.

See if you av supports a game mode or you can disable it, might have decided to do a random scan while you were trying to play a game (or disable quick scans all together)

Only 200fps? Awe, you poor thing. Its a bit hard to feel sorry for you when I only get 20fps in Tekkit Lite.

That's only on tiny. And those frame drops are massive. They are actually bad.

Also, there was no reason for you to comment.

use optifine!

I do.

Optifine+Smooth FPS did it for me.
Also VSync.

Vsync has caused more issues than not for me.

the issue seems your computer is way too fast for minecraft
how to fix it: send me your computer and i will happily replace it for a slower one.

Lol, that's only on lowest settings.

Honestly, anything above 60 your eyes can't notice. We only see 60 fps in real life.

That's bullshit. For a start the world isn't in any kind of FPS, however when you convert what the average human sees, it's aroundish 500. Obviously "aroundish" because really, the world is not in FPS and this is an estimate. You are confusing this with the fact that most monitors only allow you to see 60 FPS.

And as well, dropping from 800 to 200 is a major problem with input lag, but it's still playable, and that's not the issue i am talking about in the OP.

On my regular settings my FPS can drop to 0 for no reason, and the only correlation I have is a sound playing just as it freezes. That's it.

I just don't understand why you need such an absurd framerate in Minecraft, when most users get along just fine with 60+ FPS... 200-800 seems extremely absurd and an absolute waste of PC resources. And why would the framerate drop around 200 cause any sort of "input lag"? That doesn't even make sense.
