So I got DIOS-MIOS to work. A great accomplishment. I had an IDE to USB adapter that I could use to connect old internal HDD's. They always spinup and never go to sleep. But now the adapter broke. Now I tried hooking up my ultra-modern external 1TB HDD. CFG Loader could detect it. Read the filesystem. But the problem with this hard drive is that it starts in idle mode. Just serving the filesystem. Then once something wants to read it, it starts to spinup. CFG loader however expects and instant datastream.

I've seen that it's on the CFG loader's to do list to have it spinup drives first. But I don't know how long that will take.

Any suggestions?

It only goes to sleep when no data is requested for a few minutes. So maybe loading an image or something first?

EDIT: Sorry if this question has been asked 1M times before.

try searching for how to disable the sleep function, i had found this some days ago, i think you can do it with seagate tools

try to search about this. or download seagate tools and see if you can disable the sleep mode.

I'll try that thanks!
You could also try using a different USB loader, but it may cause issues ingame.

Yeah I've found other loaders to load the wrong game. and just generally not work as well.

Weird things are happening. I created an extra partition to format using DMLizard. So before with NTFS I was having the issue that it said: the drive or partition usb:/ is not connected!!. Turns out the HDD spins up when I turn on my wii. but when I try to load a game from the FAT partition. It turns off for a second and has to re-spinup while Dios-Mios is already trying to load.

I think I understand the problem. When Dios-Mios loads it takes of the power of the USB port for a second. My HDD is programmed to spin down when that happens (even though it still has a separate power cord). Thanks for trying to help me but I think I'll have to find an alternative.
