I watched it as I do with most RLM stuff.

Eh, not a fan of their opinions, seemed super hipsterish with this "ALL GAMES LOOKS THE SAAAAME" bullshit. I haven't seen much of Pre Rec but I'm glad they're keeping something dedicated to gaming, although a revival of Gamestation 2.0 would've been ideal.

What is it with you guys and hipsters?! :)

"Hipster thought" existed long before those attention seeking clowns banded together (over the internet I presume) and formed their demographic. And I certainly don't deem RLM to be hipsters, in fact they have slammed upon hipsters in some of their skits before. I think the notion of seeing that most of the crap this world churns out is just that, crap, has existed well since humanity got bored, lost their way, and started churning out crap. Now a days it's even worse because yesterday's tacky is the new trendy.

I'm just saying their opinions on video games are "hipster", not the entire RLM. I've had a long existing love and respect for RLM.

Totally agree. Except when they spoke about Halo, that I agree with. They discarded a lot of interesting games because they're a sequel or a tad similar to the previous game.

Also, I really don't like the idea of Amiibos...

I still have not watched Nintendo's direct (I keep finding better things to do, including watching the crows dance on my chimney) . Can I watch this and have missed nothing?

I'm a Nintendo and Classic gaming junkie, so my opinion don't count, but I did enjoy the Nintendo presentation. A LOT of the games did manage to catch my eye, though as said in this RLM discussion, it seems like nearly ALL Indy games are starting to look the same, even on the Wii U already... though there are still some gems to be sure. Less to buy I always say, which is money saved in the long run. :)

Indie games have been trash for years.

Well yes, there is always the fact that some game designers (hopefully I'm not one of them), despite all their effort, only produce crap in the end, that's just part of life, you get the good with the bad. What I'm pointing out is exactly what they said in this discussion, that they are all dark, involve roaming around slowly, solving similar puzzles with similar game mechanics and what have you. Seriously, just look at the Nintendo EShop/App Store/Thing... (insert pun here) to see what I mean.

Red Letter Media is usually funny and this video is mostly on point BUT that retard Jack said the Wii didn't have any Zelda games at launch @ 12:25

Was that when they were talking about the original Wii? I guess in a sense they were sort of right, the only Zelda the Wii got at first was a re-launch of a Gamecube title.

Anyhow, they are only human, they are prone to error or just plain straight up stupidity for the sake of sarcasm. They merely entertain me, I don't need to subscribe to their every opinion to be a fan do I? Though on that note it does seem that I often find my self agreeing with the guys. Matter of fact when I first found them I was ELATED that someone was actually taking the time to make Youtube videos that systematically explain why 99% of the content being mass produced by the industry is (as they would put it) schlock. I've felt this way about the world since I was a happy little kid. :)

I like Rich and AIDSMoby, but yeah, they got a bit hipsterish there. What a bunch of hack frauds.

Still like the video, though.

I ooked up "hipster" on the all knowing Wiki and I'm still not seeing what is so hipster about them? Seems to me they are pretty good at discerning what is unique, innovative, created with passion and love... from that which is merely copy cat, mass produced, prefab, playing it safe, and created for those who "don't like things that are different".
Likewise they do not strike me as elitist, smart asses maybe, but certainly not elitist, and certainly not anti-social.

Not sure that they fit the bill, I believe they are just being wise, intelligent, sarcastic, and having fun...

...all while making a buck at that.

Yeah that's what being a fucking hipster is dude. Also they shit on Destiny and how is that not a game with "passion and love"? They put so much effort into this original universe and all these mechanics.

I think you're a hipster bro.

Ha ha ha, well it does appear that I share a lot of "hipster" sentiment, but I assure you, I DO socialize, I DO have hope in some things, I could give a rats ass about image/appearances, and I am afraid that I was never sent a hipster rules of conduct manual, so I couldn't subscribe to their group think if I wanted to. So what ever simlarities we might share is pure happenstance. :)

As for the hard work of game developers...

...people slave away in factories all day too, often times they are underpaid at that, and only working as temps, yet they slave away none the less, not for the love or passion of their work, or because they find it personally fulfilling, but because they got mouths to feed, a roof to keep over their head, bills to pay, etc.

Not everyone is a Warren Spector. :)

I guess I should also point out that just because one is an aspiring game designer, goes to school for it and the whole nine yards, does not mean that he's going to end up working for a company where he is free to explore his passions or welcome to share his ideas. Not unlike many of the modern day animators of cartoons, they often time work long hours as if on an assembly line, producing not so much what they want to, but what they are told to produce. Sadly not all those commands come from people who like them, are gamers, aspiring game designers, etc. Often times they are just business men who don't want to take risks.
