I modded my wii years ago and its currently at 4.2U with the latest homebrew channel. I can not remember the modding steps I took back then but now I need to update to 4.3 so the shopping channel works again and I can setup a wii u transfer.

If I update the wii from the options menu is that safe and does it virginize the system and remove all the hacks/homebrew channel?

I was also looking at modmii. theres the modmii wizard option (W) that can update the channels and system to 4.3 but does that remove my existing hacks?

theres also the syschecker update (SU) option that updates my existing cios files and installs any ios files that are missing(I think) but does that update my system menu or the channels? if not should I update with syschecker first then run the modmii wizard to update to 4.3 or run the wizard first then the syschecker?

not sure the best way to do this. helps please.

well my wii has been at 4.2 for years and ive never had a problem outside of the shopping channel not working because its out dated. now I need to update to setup the wiiu system transfer.

anyone?

It's quite simple. Go to the options menu on your Wii and hit that big, shiny "Wii System Update" button. You can easily reinstall any custom IOS afterwards.

Just download the latest Shop Channel and install it with a wad manager.

You forgot to mention he needs IOS62 as well in order to make it work, 4.2 doesn't have IOS62 on its own which he needs if he's ever gonna perform a Wii U transfer.

modmii had ios62 listed in the files to update after I ran system checker. I believe it updated all my cios and added/updated all the other ios in the process.
