Hey um, I had a bunch of wiiware and VC games on my emuNAND partition on my hard drive and they worked perfectly through USB Loader GX, but I recently messed with a lot of stuff on my wii so the system/store region was set to UK to download a wiiware game and dump it as a wad, which did work. I think in the process of switching everything back to US something went wrong because I am stupid and also dumb. I can provide more information as needed, but I find it strange that the wii crashes every time I start up a wiiware game even though it didn't before.

So basically,
  • wbfs files still launch from a different partition on the same hard drive
  • all wiiware/VC games no longer work
  • I did change IOS and update things a bit but I don't really know enough about these things to know how to fix it
  • I don't remember specifically what to call that kind of crash but it's the kind that happens a lot, where it displays some generic error message and you have to hold down the power button or unplug your wii to turn it off
  • I actually really don't know what went wrong but I hope I can fix it
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Now that you mentioned it, I tried it with the VCs that I have.

And based on my tests:
Nintendo 64 - All that I have works perfect (Super Mario 64, Both Legend of Zelda, etc.)
Super Nintendo - No game loads up (black screen, need to manually turn off wii then restart)
NES - No games loads up (black screen, need to manually turn off wii then restart)

I checked each games IOS requirements, but found out that it's not culprit. Some N64 VC Games uses the same IOS as NES and SNES, but they don't load up. And confirmed that it's the game "category" that doesn't work.

I tried installing it on my Wii's main NAND, but it's the same as above. I am trying to play them off USB Loader GX and EmuNAND from my USB HDD. EmuNAND path it usb:/nand/

I have tried playing around with the settings under loader, and its still the same.

XFlak, Cyan, stephaniie.. Guys, any ideas?

Installing the Wads on your console's real NAND doesn't work?
or are you referring to your main EmuNAND path?

Which cIOS version/revision are you using ?
I thought, most non working channels was N64 games, I didn't know Snes/NES was affected.
It's official games or injected ROMs?

Yup. Main NAND of my Wii. So both, EmuNAND (via USB Loader GX) and Main NAND (The real Wii NAND), N64 games works but no SNES/NES.

Well, all a backup from the Wii Shop (NTSC). So official games.

Weird as I originally thought that it could be the IOSes (d2x beta 52), but if you play from the Real NAND, it should use the real IOS, right? But is still not working.. And again, its just the main category of the game (or console it originally came from).

I thought as well that it could be with something in Priiloader, so I region free EVERYTHING that could be region freed. But is still the same.

I suppose it works fine if you launch the channel directly from the System menu (not from a loader).
Currently, the loader is always reloading to cIOS before launching anything, even a channel on read NAND.
I will force (or add a setting) to reload to channel's requested IOS if it's on realNAND.

That's the weirdest thing. I tried to launch all of them from the System Menu, and still the same. only N64 games works, and no SNES and NES games. WTH..?!

then it's an issue with your Wii or with your channels, not the loader.
maybe the wad manager you are using is patching the games (some managers doesn't install wads correctly)

Cyan, I tried the wads that I have on Dolphin Emulator, and they are working fine. When I install my wads, I use ShowMiiWads. Is the wads getting patched?

Trying them out on Dolphin by loading up the wads straight up works perfectly. But if I try to load them up using my nand backup on system menu, it is still the same, but now it gives me the error that the "channel cannot be used". I understand now that this error is because of wrong region.

So my Wii nand backup is PAL, but wads are NTSC (all of them). But on the real wii, it does not give me that error either ran from System Menu or USB Loader. Just plain black screen and I need to hard reset the wii (turn off wii on red, then turn it back on).

I tried to play around with the region of the wads then install them on my EmuNAND and Real NAND (System Menu), and its a hit and a miss (RegionFree, NTSC U, Europe or PAL, via ShowMiiWads). DKC 2 is the only one I was able to run from the System Menu (Real Wii) but has to make it wrong region thus giving me the error. All others just gives me plain black screen.

We're still on the topic of SNES and NES games. N64 works fine without changing them (System Menu and USB Loader EmuNand).

You might say its funny, but I'm starting to think that it may have something to do because I'm on component cables? I lost my composite ones. -_-

Are you having the same problems LieutenantPie

Sorry, but I might have missed an information here.

You said you tried the wads on the Real NAND.
Why are you telling that you are using ShowMiiWads to install them? showMiiWads is used for EmuNAND.

Then you are telling "I try to load them up using my nand backup on system menu"
How do you use EmuNAND on System menu? It's either the system menu on Real NAND OR the EmuNAND, not emuNAND on system menu (unless you are launching Sneek, but then it should work, so I suppose you are not using sneek at all).

I thought it was to you I told this, but maybe it was someone else:
Go into USBLoaderGX > Settings > user paths > verify that all the emNAND paths are correct, then :
Go into USBLoaderGX > Settings > Features > Dump NAND > Syscheck only (it will write the console's current settings to your emuNAND)

If it doesn't work, try to create a new full EmuNAND based on your current Wii's state.

A bit confusing eh? Got me too.

So.

Real NAND (System Menu) - Installed wad using either YAWMM or MMM (both latest versions, used IOS236 for installation). Same issues.
Real NAND (USB Loader GX) - Pretty straight forward. Same issues.
EmuNAND (USB Loader GX) - Installed wad using ShowMiiWads. Same issues.
EmuNAND (USB Loader GX) - Installed wad using USB Loader GX's "Install WAD to EmuNAND" feature. Same issues.
Dolphin (EmuNAND backup with System Menu) - Installed wad using Dolphin's own "install wad" feature. Same issues.
Dolphin (Load by WAD itself) - Work perfect for all.

Tried changing the WADs region using ShowMiiWads, for all methods above except for the Dolphin direct loading. Same issues.

EmuNAND location is usb:/nand/ (First partition, Fat32 with 32k cluster).

Saw that post, it's for a different person. I've dumped my EmuNAND using USB Loader GX's feature and used "overwrite all" or "all" and is using it's current state.

Got any clues?

sorry, after trying to help everyone at the same time, I mix the issues together lol

I don't have any clue.
Even your real NAND with official IOS doesn't work, so I really don't know what to suggest.
