How does it work?

Is it like WODE?
Is it solderless?

well, according to the Features list from modchipcentral, it is solderless, but who knows, if everything else in that list is actually true ^^

Features:
  • Works on all WiiU consoles from all regions
  • Play your WiiU or Wii games from any USB media!
  • No custom firmware required for operation - you can update to the latest official firmware and play online
  • User friendly intuitive Web and Remote interfaces
  • Hardware AES engine
  • Ultra-small size - makes installation easy!
  • Hardware and software for high-speed game ripping to PC to be released soon
  • No soldering required
  • Multi-language support
  • Supports most file systems, including NTFS, EXT2/3/4, and Mac OS X Extended
  • High speed USB2 interface
  • Powerful embedded Linux system running from Micro SD card (included)
  • Linux firmware fully updatable from USB media
  • FPGA fully updatable from USB media via built-in, in-system JTAG programming

connection to pc for game ripping ... sounds like the need to keep the wiiU disc drive easily accessible so you can copy your purchased discs

Colour me surprised! That came out of nowhere! Updateable, USB-play, passthrough - this *appears* to have it all. Now let's wait for the reviews. I wonder if F0F will ignore it, or whether it will encourage them to loosen up on releasing their info.

well, I won't believe the feature list untill I see somebody posting a video review, sometime in august or september, when it may get released

I've contacted the team, but so far the lack of responses is discouraging. If I do get a review sample, I'll make a review of it. Otherwise I won't be getting this, since the library is relatively small at the moment.

Is there any possibility that it's fake? I just want to buy Wii U this summer, and I am pirate-bastard. That's why I am watching how this WiiKey show goes.
