when I saw that Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire were going to be released I thought about selling my 3DS with firmware 4.3 which is gateway compatible

I'm planning on buying a 3DS XL in it's place, do you guys think i'm doing the right thing and how much would it go for?

I'd keep it for region free and whatnot, plus, you'll always have homebrew access.

If you do plan to sell it, though, don't rip yourself off like the guy that sold me my 1.1 3DS did. He sold it to me with a copy of OoT3D for $100, when those kinds of systems easily hit $200 on eBay.

I'd keep it and update it. x'D

If you're selling it though, 150$ would be a decent price for a used system for those that might be interested in the piracy enabling firmware.
Personally I find 200$ too expensive since you can get a new system for less than that.

It all depends on the system though, is it brand new? Does it have a single scratch? Is the battery still good? Etc etc

Yeah i'll probably sell it for a little over $160 though since it's gateway compatible

I only played Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D & like a few worlds in New Super Mario Bros 2 and it's been sitting on my TV Stand for like literally almost a year, there are no scratches, it's in very good condition & the battery is very good.

Keep it and buy a random 3DS XL. Change the motherboards and you have a 3DS XL with your original 3DS's firmware.

Otherwise sell it for >the price of a 3DS XL

Me either. Wouldn't the circuit board be bigger? Or is it really the same as a 3DS motherboard with lots of open space all around inside the housing?
I can confirm they are different. SD card slot is in a different location too. I was being a bit of a smart a**. As far as I know, it's not possible.
