Even though there are quick egg hatch codes right now, I really don't see myself using it. Mainly due to the fact that I have 2 carts and, other than backing up and applying the O power code, I have kept my main one isolated from Powersaves. This is partly due to the fact that it is an X cart that wasn't able to be recognized without using the alcohol trick initially and partly due to the fact that I want to limit any chance of becoming one of the few that have had their cart bricked. I've been using the MM to breed and, even though I never thought that I would say it, it does get kind of addicting like gambling. Part of the surprise is seeing if it hatches shiny. It kind of ruins the surprise seeing SV and such, but I have nothing against those that do it (I did it back in the Instacheck days myself.)

With that being said, I say to each his own. It boils down to how you like to play the game. There isn't really a right or wrong answer.

Saves me the time of hatching boxes of eggs in Lumiose like I've been doing, so I'm all for this code.

Sadly I've had both an X and a Y cart get bricked so I think it's kind of random which ones get toasted. My X game was recognised immediately by Powersaves but it also was killed shortly after my Y game was. I think it might have been using the Garchomp wondercard when it first came out...
As someone in the thread mentioned earlier how switching the USB cable for a different one seemed to limit the cartridge deaths/codes stopping mid-save, it's also helped me out too and my 3rd game has been pretty good so far with codes and not corrupting saves. This was kind of off topic but I guess I just want to let people know that both carts have a chance of being bricked and not just X.

You've toasted two carts and you keep going? I commend you for your persistance.

Lol! Well I'm having fun playing Pokemon and I have fun using Powersaves and used carts aren't too expensive where I live so it's not too big of a deal anyway. Sort of frustrating, but I keep backups of all my Pokemon now. I'm addicted to collecting things.

Kind of a bummer, my X isn't being recognized anymore by the program, it keeps giving me the insert cartridge error. And I've been using it for weeks and just did yesterday and it works fine on my 3DS. :/

Anybody have an idea if/when the AZ Floette event will be?

Not a clue. Nintendo has yet to even acknowledge the other two legendaries, let alone the hidden alternate forms.

Wait wait wait wait wait... Powersaves actually bricked Pokemon X/Y cartridges? Not just the saves but the whole thing? What about other games?

Yep. AFAIK it's only with pokemon. The Winter garchomp code was bricking carts (they were unreadable in both the power saves device and the 3DS). This has been fixed since. I am unaware of other specifiv codes that are bricking carts.

Ah, good. I thought it was the device itself. Still, damn. I would understand if a code destroys the save, but the whole game? Or was it related to the whole NAND save shenanigans?

The only way to brick the cart is by activating codes before the encrypted commands are fully received which is when the powersaves tab gets a red (!) next to the name.

There's also another way to brick your cart but only a totally retarded person would do it. This method consits on removing the cart from the powersaves dongle while it is being restored/patched.
If you're retarded enough to do that, then you deserve to get your cart bricked.

I just know a bunch of people were having issues with the garchomp leading datel to remove the garchomp code and bring it back. So are you saying that the previous garchomp code was not, in fact, the cause of the bricks?

Also, how does one activate a code with the red (!) there? Kind of silly for Datel to even allow something like this to happen. Shouldn't they just not allow codes to be activated in thats tate? Would make the most sense, woudln't it?

The cartridge can also brick if Powersaves is writing to the cartridge and the process is interrupted. My Y version is sadly bricked and won't respond at all. Like when writing to the cartridge and having a web operation failed occur.

How would that really occur though? You download the save beforehand so you're not connected to the internet when it's writing. There would be no web operation faiure.

There was definitely an issue with the Garchomp code. There was a rash of posters on multiple forums who had serious problems after applying it. Either the game wasn't recognized by either Powersaves or 3DS or it would constantly crash after a short period of time. Once these issues started to surface, the code was taken down. It was some time before it was returned to the line up. It was also at that time that rollout of codes essentially froze for about a week (I'm assuming to triple check new planned codes.)

Also, it's impossible to activate a code before the powersaves tab gets it's red check mark. That check mark doesn't appear until it has downloaded the data needed to display what is available for that game. Both tabs become live at the same time. If you don't believe me, click on the cheat tab before the powersaves tab gets its exclamation mark. It will say something along the lines that it is checking with the server (I can't remember the exact wording.)

Now before everybody panics, since the original event Garchomp code was rolled back, the reports of bricks have dramatically decreased. I have only seen just a few reports and let's face it, you will find bad carts out there if you look hard enough (I'm not implying that the people who have posted their post Garchomp bricks are liars.) The reason I said what I did about not using it on my primary cart is mainly due to the fact that I have 2 carts, and I figure why tempt fate especially for an event/item that I can just trade over to myself after I apply the edit?

This was largely my understanding of things as well.

I use an extra cart myself. Safest way to do it.
