Yes, there are reports of fake Gateway cards that can't be updated, but maybe there's a legitimate error in the launcher. There's a post about it in this subforum, which cointains pictures to identify if your card is "fake".

As far as I can tell my card is real. I preordered it from an official reseller (realhotstuff.com) before the card even existed. I looked at the thread and my card has the long pin in the middle while the fakes have a shorter one. I can provide Hi Res pictures if needed.

There's nothing we can do to help you in this. You could try repeating the update until the process successes but if it just keeps failing, the best you could do would be reporting the issue to Gateway themselves.

Pfft, first of all you are saying that you "updated your 3DS" WTF is that supposed to mean? you updated the NAND to 7.1? Then you are saying that you are putting the launcher in the red card, seriously?. If you want help, at least post what you are doing correctly.

the only thing you have to update is the gateway card, just like the DSTWO... and probably the laucher keeps in the same place as alweys...

Guys, I have created emunand and updated it.

However the eshop is empty. I can only see a few game updates and nothing else.

Did you create the emuNAND with Omega? I'm asking because there have been reports of emuNANDs made with this launcher behaving wrong. And what's that comment about the eShop? I'm going to guess it's just an opinion on its content..

1. Put the contents of Blue Card (R4i) onto SD card, put into Blue GW card
2. Launched the updater from 3DS menu
3. Put Launcher.dat onto SD card, put it into red gateway card
4. Put into 3DS, open Nintendo DS Profile
5. Replace SD card with SD card with Pokemon Y on it
6. Launch Pokemon Y, save data is corrupt, cannot delete data

this is good news but I would not go out and buy a gateway or get all excited until they actually release a final product. they have been saying "soon" for months and months, and It's very possible this "omega private beta" will last for months...

May I ask how much you bought that for?

How do I put both Pokemon Y and the Launcher on the same card? I've been writing Y to the SD card with Disk Imager as this was what I was told to do with the original firmware. Is there a different way to do this now?

Just stop doing that unnecessary step, I corrected your steps already. Also, don't use the diskimager, just drag and drop the files.

Sorry, I don't wanna be a bother but I just updated my GW. The first time it took me directly to the "select screen" after choosing profile, I updated the cart and when I tried opening pokemon Y it told me that there has been an error and I should comunicate with nintendo. Then I tried Project X zone and it was all ok. you guys know what's going on? should I seek for another copy?

Oh god...
The launcher goes to the SD of the 3DS, it has no use in the MicroSD of the Red Card. Nowhere in the instructions is suggested to put the launcher on any of the flashcards.

You must format the MicroSD for the Red card to ExFAT (or FAT32, but ExFAT is better), and just put the *.3ds file there, dropping the file in the root of the MicroSD. No need of using DiskImager, this is no suggested anywhere in the image.

Finally, after entering to Gateway mode, just press Select and choose Pokemon Y.

Dude. Slow down and read EXACTLY what he wrote.

Your ROM goes into the MICROSD which goes into the RED GATEWAY.

Your Launcher.dat goes into your SD card which goes into your 3DS.

So I'm trying to update. I've copied the Omega files to the Blue Card, then I've put the card into my 3DS, turned it on and gone into DS Profile. From there, I see the Gateway logo briefly and then both the top and bottom screen get horizontal lines on them and it just sits there. Anyone else having this problem?

Blue card files havent changed throughout the whole GW life i dont think, just put the new launcher on SD card and do as normal, older versions got lines if booting into GW mode with a cart inserted, meaning you havent followed any instructions and are still running whatever version you where running previously

Yeah, I've done it. I've followed the instructions. Pokemon X is still not working, and I'm trying to work out why. I'm asking a SIMPLE QUESTION: what am I meant to be seeing in this new Gateway firmware that will help me differentiate it from the old firmware? A logo anywhere? Because some people posted screenshots of a logo earlier and I'm not seeing them.

I'm trying to work out if my issue is the ROM (as it's very old) or if I simply haven't updated properly. I asked a simple question: am I meant to be seeing a logo, and you're supplied me with irrelevant responses.

You only see the GW3D in system setting via emuNAND, to differentiate if you have new version, go into GW menu, and see the new top screen graphics aswell as new option to dump roms, but like above posters said, you obviously havent even read the included pdf (with all versions of firmware) , which gives step by step walkthrough instructions that even a child could follow

I've tried the update multiple times... I even redid the process with the Blue Card. This is very discouraging. :/ Here is some images that may help. I seem to be the only one getting this error. People with clones aren't even able to update in the first place I don't think. I'll wait for the public final and see if anything changes, but this sucks.

Sorry, but the main menu you speak of is the game selection screen? I pressed the buttons but nothing happens
