Good work!

Are you guys a flashcard team or free homebrew team? If you are a homebrew team, any public release plans?

At present, we are just a Chinese translate team,More like free homebrew team.

There are many basic problems to be solved,in recent days,I 'm working in the research of ARM11 userland DEBUGGER and so on.

Does this mean you're able to load games from SD Card?

OMG this is perfect can't wait to see your work like Digimon redigitize decode .. Oh and maybe some dragon quest cuz that would be pretty awesome !

We can't do it.

BUT We can put some unpacked ROMFS'file to SD card(For example:lt5_en.fa in this game Layton5),and let game read there file.

Ah. So what this means is that you can allow the games to read a file with translations?

Any plans on releasing the method to do so? This should significantly speed up translation efforts.

But will be possible someday use this system to make translations of jap to english?

Well, this will become a flamewar soon. I don´t want to stress you. Only remember to bring news if something like it come out in the future. We will be waiting.

After some days of research, our team(www.xinplay.com) can let the running game's screenshot save to SD card when hotkey(X+Y) is pressed.
so NOW,We have the High quality image which Chinese localization version.

Translation: Has "S Play Chinese Translation Group" begun (or discovered a way) translating the 3DS Game Professor Layton into Chinese?

One thing of note is that Japanese kanji look identical to Traditional Chinese hanzi. As such, it may be possible to manipulate a Japanese game to arrange the kanji in a way that the content can be understood as Traditional Chinese. Indeed, ALL the characters shown in the screenshot here exist both as Japanese kanji and Traditional Chinese hanzi. If we write the characters in hiragana the sentence would be something like "Sゆかんかぐみいかいこうかんか3DSゆうぎらいとんきょう". However, the sentence would only make sense grammatically if interpreted as Chinese. Take note that even though the team itself is composed of people using Simplified Chinese (per their website www.xinplay.com), they had to use Traditional Chinese for their translation.

The difficulty with translating handheld games to English is not due to lack of characters, since A-Z fonts should be available in virtually all Japanese games. The difficulty lies with character space. If you haven't already noticed by now, the translation I wrote above is A LOT longer than what you'd have to write in either Japanese or Chinese. In terms of character spacing, one kanji/hanzi take up the space of two English alphabets. A term or verb that can be explained in two character spaces in kanji or hanzi may require many times the character spaces in English. For example, "火山" takes 4 character spaces in Japanese or Chinese, but "volcano" takes 7 character spaces in English. It's a literal nightmare trying to fit English sentences into extremely limited space that was provided for kanji. This problem isn't as prevalent with games on PC/home consoles, anime, manga or any other form of translatable media, but it's definitely the greatest obstacle for handheld translation.
