Is there any way to stop automatic download to my tablet when I buy something on the webstore?

My tablet is a Dell Venue 8 if it helps.

Basically when you buy something off Google Play Store it will download one way or another, you can cancel it however (why would you buy something to then not to download it?)

If you're referring to the Desktop Site that automatically downloads apps to your Android device remotely the option to turn it off may not exist at all. The function lies in Google Play Services on Android. You can disable your Data (3G or Wifi) or disable the Google Play Services and it won't download to your devices, but the moment you resume either feature, it will begin to download the app.

This is kind of what the App Store was designed for. My question is to ask what exactly do you hope to obtain from Google Play if you want an app without download it, or having a system to run it on?

oh poo that there's no way to turn that off.

as for why i don't want things to automatically download whenever i buy something on the webstore, space and battery. sometimes, i don't need the app right away.

i wished it was like the Apple App store, where you can just buy stuff and manually install it later.

thanks for the responses!

You can cancel a download mid-download by tapping the x button beside the app while its downloading in "My Apps" in the Play Store on Android.
It should also delete the temporary data.

If you go the Play Store, go to My Apps, find the apps you want to stop auto-updating, you can click the three dots on the top right of the screen (if you're phone has on screen buttons) and you should find a box for "Auto-update". Just uncheck that box and you're good to go.

If you don't want to download them right away, do you really need to *buy* them right away? The latest versions of play store have a 'wishlist' button. Just add the apps you want to buy to your wishlist and pay for them at the time you wish to download them.
