Hacking Pokecheck has hacked the 3ds?

No, no, no - I meant a literal rain of modchips and flashcarts - modchips and flashcarts spontaneously falling from the sky... so that I could acquire them for free.

I was under the impression that you implied current generation flashcart manufacturers are naughty because they demand money for their products. Perhaps it wasn't rain though - maybe they grew on trees, how would I know? :P

A number of useful things were done - smealum worked out the encryption and system title format, there's a ROP launcher available, a set of tools to compile code... everything you need for basic homebrew.

Oh, you meant a backup loader - no, we don't have that yet. :)

The encryption keys (or a way to obtain them yourself) weren't shared with the public, nor was the system title format, and from what I've seen the compile tools are extremely limited and access to essential graphic processing options (3D display, etc.) was blocked.

Yeah, withholding of info. Cart makers robbed the bank and charge others for it, lmfao. Brick people who stoke from them. Literally raining, lol, okay foxi4. I believe everything should be shared. Their right to sell products...but only because people withhold info. Collusion maybe?

Feel free to do hundreds of hours of your own research and share it with others who didn't put in as much effort. It takes a lot of time and knowledge to get meaningful exploits going; hard work isn't required to be shared for free.
Pokecheck is and always will be a free service... should be happy that there'll be something usable for everyone.

PokeBank has delayed the release of Gen 6 battle video support -- the massive influx of traffic would only be compounded. For the first time ever xfr had to add ads to try and recoup the massive costs incurred by the (600GB/day) traffic.

instead of being whiny, you could always take some time and learn to do the same thing yourself. then you could share whatever you wanted with everyone.

That's the only reason to be excited anyways honestly.

What good will homebrew bring to the console that I can't already do (better) on my phone or other device?

If homebrew can bring in screenshots saved to the SD card uncompressed, like per game dual screen screenshots, I'll be down.

Some sort of day planner or music player? Who the fuck cares. The 3DS isn't meant for really anything but gaming so anything but screenshots and a backup loader is the only worthwhile thing to spend time developing for it imo.

People on this site are really mean... It's pretty disgusting and pathetic actually

DS/Wii and 3DS/WiiU sections mostly.

It could be due to the mass amount of people using flashcards and having a softmodded Wii (their the easiest to hack out of all the 7th gen consoles)
The xbox/PS3 sections are quite okay tho.

But yeh, you just ran into some twats.
Just ignore them ;]

Maybe because not everyone has a mobile device like a smartphone to use for said homebrew apps? Who are you to deem what a handheld like the 3DS should or shouldn't be allowed to do via homebrew/hacking? If people want to port emulators or media player software, that's their right. If smartphones, which allow "gaming", and can be used for hacks, then the 3DS, which also can play games, can be used for hacks as well.

I think the point it's not really good at anything besides gaming. You can do it, but it's a waste of time to try and turn your tv into a gaming system simply because it has microprocessors in it.

You can afford a 3ds but not a phone given the fact that cheap phones can still do everything hacked systems would do short of cheats, backup loaders, and piracy? They have tablets, used also, that are more powerful and do it all except play exclusive 3ds/current gen exclusives. Homebrew is the excuse people give who don't want to buy games and want to seem moral.

If people want to hack it, that's their right. With all due respect, I'm going to have to disagree, we don't need some stupid ROM loader to make the 3DS worth hacking, region free play, playing games Nintendo is too lazy to release on VC via emulation and playing movies via SD card would be a good goal to achieve.

On the other hand, I stated my opinion and I stand by it, but then again, who am I to debate the subject of legit homebrew use on a site that was once used as a source of piracy? I hate tablets because you're forced to use shitty touch screen controls (which suck ass IMHO), real controllers are incontrovertibly better and more practical. Anyway, these discussions are nothing short of being the epitome of frivolousness and triviality.

The screen isn't really that great for movies, and it's highly unlikely it could do 720p (even though that one streetpass flower game is apparently running in 720p or so for the top screen? based on screenshots).

You'd likely still need a romloader for region free stuff, which isn't a huge deal for me in the states as afaik there's no europe only releases of anything I'd want. There is SMT4 that europe hasn't got for some strange reason.

I don't also really see a huge point in emulation of older games, when my computer can do it better, and my note 3 can do even more than the 3ds could ever do, so it's not a huge issue for me at least.

Lately everybody seems to have hacked the 3DS. Me included!

You can use Bluetooth to get controllers to work with tablets, phones, etc. Next excuse? Only usefulness of hacks is piracy and cheat devices. I did see an action replay for 3ds. If they have one like game genie was for the Wii U then I am set. I buy my games or am given games as gifts.

My phone with 4 cores, lots of ram, 1080p 5 inch screen, that was $50 new roflmao, does the rest. Many apps available. Engineering build hboot and I run any rom I want to run...then I can recover if needed. It is too much work to dev. a proprietary system for homebrew and the hackers won't cut into ode/cart business by allowing that for free. Hacking scenes are dead aside from piracy devices.

Maybe the plan is to build my own Stereoscopic 3D Device that is able to run my favourite emulators and 3DS Games, put it in a clamshell and be happy.
Maybe its not though.

I agree ^. I'm still amazed by the 3D of some games. Imagine the amount of possibilities for homebrew 3d!!!

And yeah, there are tablets with 3D... but they are all crappy or expensive (or both).

3d...got me there. Never looked beyond a tv for 3d screens. Anyone aside from game designers need 3d? Anyone wants 3d chess or 3d paint? Never looked more closely but could 3ds even be used for 3d movies?

Ummh.. I dunno, maybe emulators with 3D? (or ports, that's more feasible)

It would also be the cheapest 3D movie player on the market...

You guys, they didn't exploit the 3DS at all, they just cracked the encryption put on Wi-Fi transfers in Pokemon X and Y.
They just wrote that message to simplify it for dummies.
