Hi guys
i know that rvl 101 to 201 are incompatible with GC games
i'm not sure if it is a software or hardware problem so
if you softmod it will it play gc games? (and if it is possible to emulate gc controller/memcard)

I know from personal experience that you shouldn't be able to open the top of the Wii, however if you were to pry it open anyways, you would notice gamecube slots. I'm not entirely sure, but I think you might be able to play using those hidden ports and dios mios (or lite).

There aren't hidden GC ports. There is one port for Nintendo's SaveMii equivalent, and it can't be used for controllers.

The model number didn't tell me enough to be sure what kind of Wii you were talking about, but if you mean the ones without ports (people call them GC-less Wii's), your only option is Devolution. Unless you are one of the few people who happen to have a drive that still supports GC discs (probably just left over drives that they had), you'll have to do disc verification on another Wii, and carry the data over to your GC-less one via a Wii remote.

Huh. My grandparents' wii came with four. Strange.

Anyways, what he said. Devolution or nothing.

rvl 001 = original Wii, fully BC with GC

rvl 101 = erroneously called the "family edition" (that was just the name of the first bundle that included it), no built in BC, but some people have soldered GC ports back on but that's not worth doing when you can just get a used 001 (unless you're just that type of person that gets a kick out of messing with stuff). Can use Devolution, but have to validate games on a RVL 001 and then take that remote to the 101.

rvl 201 = Wii mini, no BC, no way to use Devolution (or any hacks), no wifi, no support for usb ethernet adapter, no SD slot, no component support
