I've been using USB loader GX to play gamecube games lately, but I find it to be very inconsistent with loading them successfully. Every game will eventually play, but sometimes it will be 2 or 3 times of the wii shutting off or getting a black screen before I can get the Dios Mios logo to pop up and load the game. All of the ISOs I have are NTSC so I've tried force NTSC on a few games to see if it would make a difference. I know I'm using at least version 2.2 on Dios Mios (from the boot method within the app) but I'm not sure where to check the exact version. Are there any other common reasons for the the inconsistent game loadings I've been getting?

latest dios mios = 2.10

google dios mios 2.10

try wiiflow, I have far better GC with wiiflow. Don't even try with usbloadergx anymore because I can't get emunand wiiware/vc or GC to work with usbloadergx...

Also if you are using NMM or other gamecube save emulation, get a gamecube memory card to use

what usbloadergx version are you using? Go to 'settings - page 6 - credits' - I'm on r1209 myself..

A few GC games playing off USB loader with Dios Mios actually need a disc in the drive to run.. still not sure if it must be a GC disc or can be a Wii disc, I use a GC disc to make sure..

More info helps, what system menu version are you using etc, what sort of usb drive, how is it formatted etc..

Right now Im using a Western Digital 250gb external hard drive for all of the GC/Wii games formatted as a FAT32, cluster size is up to snuff, and system menu is 4.3U

USBloadergx is Rev1193 (assuming its in the top right of the credits page) it isn't finding any updates if I search for updates in the app itself

I still have a few blocks left on my GC memory card so I've been using that instead of NMM. I've also been keeping a GC disc in the drive for any games I'm trying to boot by the way.

How do I check what version of DM I have? I tried a few days ago to update it, but wasn't sure if theres a particular way to uninstall it because when I tried to install the 2.10 wad, the dios mios booter wouldn't show up in my homebrew channel.

You cannot update USBLGX via the program for revisions. You have to go to the current revision site and manually put it in your apps folder.
The DM (& devo) version will be shown once you update your USBLGX version.
But still, you should have 2.10 on there instead of 2.2. (FWIW, I haven't had any consistent load crashes on 2.10. Occasional, yes. Frequent, no.)

Note, in usbloadergx it says 'DM 2.6.0+' - the way to check what files you have is download 'syscheck' app and run that, saving the file to your sd card (it calls it 'upload'). Open that file with wordpad and post it in a spoiler tag. You can always try 2.9 or 2.8 if issues persist.

I highly recommend trying wiiflow though, for me it has always been the answer for GC, don't know exactly why.. but it works and I'm happy. I think latest wiiflow is something like 4.2.0 or 4.2.1. I use the one here: http://gbatemp.net/threads/wiiflow-4-the-masterpiece-pack-by-abz.336543/ I think that is the latest version.

I'm grabbing the latest wiiflow to give that a try now. How do I download the newest DM if that's the problem? Last time i tried, I deleted the DM booter and the wad, but the wad for 2.10 wouldn't install afterwards.

I haven't tried dm booter myself.. I read somewhere that installing the wads in this order helps.. I use Wad Manager 1.7 to install
1. RVL-mios-v10.wad
2. DIOSMIOS_2.10.wad
3. RVL-bc-v6.wad

As for the downloads of these, do some googling of dios mios 2.10 and the like and there should be 4shared and other file sharing links that appear in the list

'wads' are not allowed to be linked here in the context of roms and warez and such, so I'm not sure if it's kosher to link application wads. They are easy to find though.

I can't find the thread here with the post I got the info about the wads above from, but it's probably in one of these pages: http://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-p...s-from-sd-or-usb-using-dios-mios-lite.318585/ anyway that thread should help

Also I remembered I forgot to mention the easiest way to see what version of the program you are using is to look at the page with 'load/delete/back' options in homebrew channel after you click on an app - it usually says the version number at the top there

I just totally gave up on usbloadergx today and have unselected nand/emunand/gc from the options for viewing, so it only shows wii games. I'm only keeping it as a backup in case anything doesn't run through wiiflow, but I've been lucky that pretty much everything does. I get weird 'your system memory is corrupt, press a to restart' and similar errors in usbloadergx but wiiflow loads them fine.. maybe my/gx's save emulation or something..

Only thing is I don't like the Wiiflow disc installer, I use the usbloadergx one because I've had the wiiflow one stall right at 99% sometimes. Usbloadergx doesn't do this. Some other things to note, sometimes wiiflow hangs switching between views (you choose between wii games, nand, emunand, homebrew, gc etc), you have to download the covers for each view individually (it only downloads for the 'view' you are in, ie GC/wii games/homebrew/vc-ww), you need to set custom path so it has the right one for your emunand (defaults to :/wiiflow/nand/ or something like that). It also hangs pretty bad for a while on the 5th page of the settings, if you have set your emunand correctly and it has craploads in it.. it takes AGES for it to load the memory for the setting 'return to channel', loading all your channels for the list..

Apart from these nigglies, I generally prefer wiiflow in most aspects, but I kind of like the usbloadergx list view in the gui a bit more for quick access to EVERYTHING in a single list.

But what I really like is when it just *works* so it sold me there :)

there's also usbloader, which is not the same as gx. I don't really like it though because you need to set all the options on a PC rather than in the gui on the Wii. I don't like the gui either.. but it's worth a try, along with neogamma, as last case options if nothing else works. Haven't tried DM booter.. covers rock :) oh, make sure to set cover options for wiiflow too, 'original/custom' and select USA/UK and AUS.. for english covers..

I also had wiiflow 'lose' my games once, I had to delete the config file and 'refresh cache' and worked fine.. usually refresh cache works fine if it doesn't auto detect new installed stuff..

there are a bunch of themes too, like for usbloadergx, but i like the original one best :)

I used cfg usb loader for a while and thought it was alright, but definitely have been finding gx to be slightly more reliable as far as launching games it seems.

I checked my DM version and it says on the homebrew channel that its version "r30"?

And why do you need to install the RVL wads do you know? When I first installed DM, I'm pretty sure I only installed the one DM wad.

Alright well I just tried to install the Dios Mios 2.10 wad and I encountered the same problem that I had last time. The wad appears when I open Multi Mod Manager and it says that it installs successfully (using ios236 as per the DM instructions,) but then when I go back to my homebrew channel, theres no dios mios booter. Any reason why this would be happening?

DIOS MIOS and DIOS MIOS Booter are two different things.

DIOS MIOS is a system file (like cIOS, you don't see them in your Homebrew channel).
DIOS MIOS and DIOS MIOS Lite are installed in the "MIOS" slot of your Wii. It's the IOS used to run the Wii in gameCube mode.

DIOS MIOS Booter is a Wii homebrew, you need to download it and install it on your SD card if you want that homebrew to appear in your Homebrew Channel.
That homebrew will list all the gamecube games it founds (like USBLoaderGX or Wiiflow will do), and when you select a game it will launch the GameCube mode of the console (which is not the official MIOS anymore, but DIOS MIOS from Crediar).

If you want the latest version of USBLoaderGX, you can find it here :
http://www.mediafire.com/folder/t2x95zd9rz3rc/USBLoaderGX (look in the 3.0+ folder)
download the latest release, extract the boot.dol located in the /IOS249/ folder, and put it in your SD/apps/usbloader_gx/boot.dol (replace old file).
It will now correctly detect your installed DIOS MIOS version up to 2.10 (instead of 2.6+)

The inconsistencies you found are not caused by the loaders, but by DIOS MIOS and your HDD (incompatibility).
If you use DIOS MIOS Lite + SD card, I'm sure you'll have better consistencies ;)

And why do you need to install the RVL wads do you know? When I first installed DM, I'm pretty sure I only installed the one DM wad.

Not sure but this was the update procedure I read in a thread here, I just followed that and worked well for me. The quote was something like 'since dios mios 2.10 the guy that makes it was getting sick of people asking for help to get it to work, so made it so it is broken slightly. To get it to work install those 3 wads in that order..'

That's what I read and followed, don't know the validity of it, but it worked for me and isn't too much extra work :)

And as stated by Cyan, DM booter isn't the same as DM/DML, DMB is just an app to launch. I still recommend trying wiiflow as well :) but for DM booter, just put it in a subfolder within the apps folder, ie something like SD (OR USB):/apps/DMboot/boot.dol - the names of the folders doesn't matter. Personally haven't tried it as I like the GUI and covers of usbloadergx/wiiflow/usbloader cfg etc :)

And yeah for GC memory card, it fills up so quick! I have two almost full just from a few games, gotta buy more of the cards hehe

Might have to invest in a SD card with a higher capacity than the 16g that i'm using now if it'll give me the definitive Dios Mios experience haha. Thank you everybody for all the input
