Hacking Is it worth buying a 3DS now?

I also like the ability to not have to take a package full of 3DS games anywhere (trip, school, w/e) and just keep all my files on my computer and flash whenever I want to.

The Gateway only supports one game per microSD at the moment so you'd still need to lug around either a laptop with microSD reader or multiple microSDs. And there's also paid downloads (although I can see why someone wouldn't want to use that considering there's no accounts)

That sounds like it's less of an issue with the cost of the games, and more of an issue of you not doing the proper research before buying them.

Although I do agree with this statement, I don't agree with your approach with this. I don't think it's your responsibility to "scold" another member for not taking the approach you did. Besides, the OP clearly said he wanted a 3DS with the intention of getting a Gateway with it. So why try to change his mind on that seeing as how the main draw of the Gateway for most people is to play ROMs? Some people pirate, others don't. Deal with it.

This is true. I apologize for being too preachy.

Enjoy the 3DS, bro.

How to use it on 6.3.0-12? most of the consoles is 6.3.0-12
Most of the updated consoles, maybe. But not everyone updated religiously their consoles as soon as a new firmware came out. Nothing wrong with that, but you close a lot of doors behind you by doing so. 4.4 3DS consoles can still be found in stores, I believe. There's no telling if 6.3 will ever be supported by Gateway. Decisions, decisions...

It's been said by IronClouds but I'd just like to back it up officially, while I agree that you should support developers and buy the games you like, it is not our job, nor our responsibility to scold, convert, or shame OP. This section is 3DS Hacking and Homebrew, not 3DS Pirates Anonymous. Answer the question to the best of your ability, or move on to another topic.

Think about it this way: You go online to ask a foodie community to direct you to the best burger joint in your city, and people then tell you that you should eat a healthy salad. That's kind of silly isn't it?

Well, frankly, for me the new Pokemon game was enough of a reason to buy the 3DS.

If you're liking what the Gateway has to offer, there's no reason not to buy it,despite many other things I won't mention that are bothering me in Gateway, not playing online is also a huge let-down,which is what games like Pokemon are all about, and playing online is a must for me.

For god's sake, why do so many assume that if I want to buy a Gateway3DS that I want to pirate?

I said in a previous post that I want to play games that I'm importing from Japan as well as removing the need to carry an extra pouch full of games with me when traveling.

I know that the Gateway can only hold one game. I said "So I can keep all my files on my computer and flash whenever I want."

When I'm going on a trip, I generally bring my 3DS and my computer. Therefore, with the Gateway, no need to bring a case to carry games in.

Anyways, thanks for all the help. This thread is resolved since I already got my answer a page and a half ago.

Not to be a dick or anything but why not just buy the games you want to play? Games are so cheap, and the money helps support the developers.

Here are the games I've bought:

Animal Crossing: New Leaf - $15 new
Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan (collector's edition) - $20 new
HarmoKnight - $15 new
Mii Plaza Extras - $15 new

Still haven't beat any of them.

Where the heck did you find Animal Crossing: New Leaf for $15? I'm in australia and they cost $60

New/used and/or from ebay. Or from someone else in the trading section here. You still got about 24 more posts before you can use the trading section.
