Hi all, I'm a novive regarding the Wii and WiiU but thanks to the instructions in this thread, I managed yesterday to install the homebrew and also did the rest of the instructions, which made that I was able to launch backups from the SD card through the WiiFlow program.

However, since the day after, I'm unable to launch backups. When launching Wiiflow, I can see the games, and when clicking on them I can see the preview, so this seems to be working. However, when I actually start the game, the screen simply turns black and remains that way, so that I have to pull the power plug to restart the Wii U.

Two things happened on this morning (almost in parallel) that in my opinion could be the root cause. My daughter switched on the Wii U and accidentally confirmed the request for a system update, something that I had not done for quite some time. The firmware has been upgraded to 3.1.0 E. However, on multiple forums I have read that upgrading the firmware has not been the source of problems so far.

I also tried to launch backups from a USB stick, but as WiiFlow didn't show me the backups on the USB stick, I also installed CFG USB Loader MOD v70 r65. This loader did show me the backups on the USB stick, but when I tried to start them, it was the first time I got confronted with that black screen. My first idea was that this was related to the CFG loader, but since then, games don't start anymore from Wiiflow as well.

The Lego batman game that we used for the exploit still plays, so I guess that the device is not bricked. All functionalities from within the Homebrew channel also still work ok.

What I tried so far: I already tried reinstalling the d2x cIOS installer, both with the d2x-v10-beta52-vWii as with the alternative beta53-alt version. Both installs work out fine, but the games still don't launch, so no result.

I'm hesitating about resetting to factory settings and trying to reperform the entire procedure, but I'm a bit anxious to try this. Has anyone else experienced this, or do you have some advice on how to fix this ?

Another thought: I seem to recall that when pushing some menu-items within CFG loader, it appeared to load some ios too. Could this perhaps be the source of my problem ? And if so, how do I fix it then ?

Thanks in advance.

Maybe incompatible sd and usb test with another to troubleshoot also maybe try usb loader gx. Wiiflow uses ios 58 when booted and ios 249 to load games cfg loader uses ios 249 to boot and load i think it is not loading ios 249 but i dont think it is a problem with ios 249 i think it is incompatable sd and usb.

im dealing with the exact same issue. my games are on a sd card. im purchasing a jump drive later and external hard drive(power outlet powered) later later on. but like i said im experiecing the same exact issues as you are with wiiflow. but i installed cfg usb loader onto my vWii and my backups load up instantly. so im going to stick with cfg usb loader until i figure whats wrong or what i did to make wiiflow not boot the backups. try cfg usb loader and see if you can boot games that way.

I'm having a very similar problem. Things went fine at the beginning: a couple of games loaded into the 32gb sdhc card, and they boot no problem. Than I added others, until I had around 3.50 gb of free space left. And now the cfg loader freezes when I try to boot them.
I tried deleting the games I added after the first 2, and now the first ones work again.
Is it a problem of free space? Does it happen to you too?

your problems sounds abit strange. i use my emunand on my external hard drive ill test more out over the next couple of days (on vwii). a few possiblitys 1. your sd card isnt too great. 2. maybe better if your selected loaded is forced to load cios249 (i tested well before having this and it still worked fine on normall wii) and one more things maybe the wads you are using are either corrupted depending on where you got them from or you have found a small handfull of wads that just dont work (which should be a very small handfull) also any injected wads are a pain in the ass i wouldnt waste your time with them

sorry but one last possibility is the cluster byts your sd or hard drive is formatted with. i never read anywhere that says it works better with i.e 32kb but thats always a possibility as well. i think a default cluster size is 4kb i could be wrong but these are possibilitys

Hey, I got it work!
I reformatted the sdhc card (64kb), filled it up, and (reinstalled and) used Wiiflow. It works :)
Still some problems with the screen ratio of some games (tried every option, but they refuse to occupy the wholes screen).

Thank you for your help

quality :) maybe your memory card just wasnt producing enough speed to be read for wiiware. are you using this on normall wii or vwii? on normall wii if you have a PAL wii and you use a game thats NTSC then the screen radio is gonna be a little out which can be sorted using a couple of methods. or are you using vwii?

thought ide point out that if anyone is gonna be playin gamecube games through nintendont or devolution i think its best to have your sd card or hard drive formatted with 32kb which should work with gameubce games and wiiware. this is how i have mine set up and both work from the same hard drive

Pardon my ignorance. Im a bit confused about cluster sizes. Doesnt fat32 mean it is using 32 kb clusters? Or is there more options?

i think it depends on what tool you use too format your hard drive. i had tested dios mios on 2 hard drives and one got formatted using windows. which i think gave it a default of 16 cluster bytes (i could be wrong). this hard drive would show my games in my loader but wouldnt load them. so i changed it too 36 cluster bytes and its fine

i cant say i no the answer to that but i dont think so. but if this is the case im guessin theres a fat64 type of format??? (ive never seen one)
