Hacking Wii U pad with vWii?

What if Nintendo did it as an attachment to the Wiimote, so you'd keep player 1 and the gamepad would just implement as a classic controller?

Not practical... But just a thought...

So, you can't use the pad as the controller... is this because the homebrew/emulators don't support it (like wii motion plus controllers) or because no vwii application (legit game or vconsole) can use it?

If it's a homebrew only issue, maybe that could be an update made by the app developer to support that controller. Not sure why many never supported the Wii motion plus for the original Wii. I'm sure there was a reason just not sure what.

this is a problem or annoyance from nintendo themselves. if the gamepad was able to use the pad buttons there would be no need for the normall wii controllers and also the gamepad is done with bluetooth. the wii remotes arnt and one more thing the wii games themselves are designed to use them specific controllers.

but i do agree the gamepad buttons should be classed as a classic controller

Remember Wii mode is a virtual machine so it can be made to use the gamepad as a classic controller thru remapping....it has to be done from outside the virtual machine and not inside. Nintendo can do it the question is will they.....I am still saying they will as the outcry for it will be large and it can be handled easily by just creating some type of button toggle like pressing both analogue sticks in at once or something....

easily done but like you said the question is will they do it?? and if not then i guess its left to the homebrew guys :)

I'm more impressed that Nintendo could do what was supposed to be impossible in Wii mode.

i dont see why it was ment to be impossible tbh with you. im no geniouse but if the wii u gamepad is designed to be streamed to then why was it ment to be impossible? basically whats already done on the wii u console your saying should of been impossible for vwii??

I mean, people like Marcan stated it would be impossible to use the gamepad in vWii mode without a hack. I'm not the one who deemed it so, I just repeat what I've heard. But yes, I've been told it was "impossible" for vWii mode to make use of it.

Words can't describe the awesomeness of being able to play homebrew emulators on a the gamepad; Snes, N64, Genesis, it's pretty sweet if you ask me :P Roommate's using the TV, no problem!

One bonus feature for me with this update is the ability to use headphones on the gamepad while playing. Which doesn't seem like much... But playing late at night, rather than wake the kids/wife.. I can just plug in the headphones and play on the vWii on the TV and still get all the audio I would usually need to turn way down. Something I've always done with the Wii U, but now able to do with vWii too... Awesome!

Played some Mario Kart Double Dash last night with my headphones in, playing on the big TV, and using the Wii U Pro Controller!

I like that too, and I have a pair of awesome Sony headphones and while using them with the gamepad, I was amazed at how good the bass is (all things considered). Very good way to not distract other people :P

how comes you need a y cable? do you not have a hdmi cable or hdmi tv?

Sorry, for my hard drive. It's not self-powered and needs more power to run properly. B-) My TV's fine, I just need my USB hard drive to have more power so it doesn't conk out due to lack of drawn power.

Yep. Devolution! Widescreen hack doesn't work on MMDD yet, but works on most games. Too bad there isn't online ability or we'd could of played online against each other last night! haha!

Need to whip out my original discs and get it running on vWii. Isn't it kinda tricky getting Devolution to run on vWii (the whole verification process)?
