Pokémon Bank and possibility of migrating B/W(2) for XY with it
Mega Evolutions of Kanto starters
Possibility to choose one kanto starter on X and Y by Professor Sycamore

Indeed it had almost nothing related to the actual game. They spent most of the time talking about Pokemon Bank, which is a nice feature, but not something worth paying for a subscription for.
I expect Mega Evolutions to be available for every starter, as both Blaziken and the 1st gen starters are confirmed to have them.

Not only Pokémon Bank, there were minutes and minutes just showing previous games and how pokémon transfers ocurred in past.
Iwata is so slow to talk that if it was Reggie instead of him the direct would only spent half of it's time.

People using gateway do not have online functionality with it.
There is no reason to fear hacked pokémon with gateway,
also, even if Gateway starts supporting online, it does not support cheats yet.
Why then do you still want Gateway users fucked up?

Well, that's sad, but look at the positive side,
tomorrow Coro Coro will leak new stuff for Pokémon X and Y.
Although we do not know what they will announce,
it hardly will be as bad as this Nintendo Direct.
Considering it's the last Coro Coro reveal, I expect big things to be announced.

I remember doing it once in Prof Layton and the Miracle Mask in Hershel's flashback,
but that definetly something not instinctive, especially in Pokémon games

That's one game. Sorry, but I don't normally turn my 3DS upside down to make a Pokemon evolve. I don't even see why they would do that...
I'm more than certain they'll include instructions in the game, though.

-Random person teaching the protagonist stuff: "To evolve certain Pokemon, you must hold your 3DS upside down. Amazing, right!?"
Main character: "Dafuq's a 3DS?"

I love how they added Poketransfer to Pokebank, so that most people MUST buy it x3
But honestly, $5 a year is pretty affordable :|
