Just saying, installing the driver of your reader might help in case of problems.
(Like mine, I could read the nand, but not write to it. After driver install, I can read and write)

I don't have money to buy a game and try (Like buying a game, then install the dump from before I bought the game).
I think however, I don't reinstalled eurosport app but since I had it before it won't show if it realy works. I don't have other free things to download on the E-shop...

this sounds right, there must be something going on in the memory of the 3ds, not just the sd card. buying the game and going to a dump where the game was not bought, well, i guess the game will not be 'activated'.

You've to be in the last version to buy a game. You cannot buy games in 4.5 now.

Btw, I hope one of you guys does a cool tutorial of nand dumping and restoring of the 3DS and 3DS XL

For those with trouble with sdcard reader drivers in Windows, I'd suggest using a recent linux live cd and reading a tutorial on using the 'dd' utility.

this is well known (on page 1 of this thread in fact). the so-called "tickets" are stored on the nand, and the previous dump will not have the "tickets" for the game purchase.

So i guess the thing to do is

1st: Nand backup 4.5 or previous
2nd: Update to last version via Net
3rd: buy the game on the e-shop
4th: Nand backup every time you buy a game

Then you have 2 nands. One for gateway, and other for e-shop and new retail games. I think this may work.

yes, provided you actually restore the 'buying backup' before every new purchase as well. otherwise you'd have to maintain individual nands for each bought game.

yeah, obviously.

Does it take to much to write and restore nand backups?

much time, you mean? the dumps are about 1GB and the transfer rates are about 5MB/s read and 3MB/s write for most people, so not too long.

you would not be doing the procedure often anyway. only when buying games or switching between playing gateway games and legit games.

Yeah, I know it's a risky process.

why is it dangerous? as long as you have a good dump you are free to write it back if it ever didn't write properly one time, right?

With these kind of things you're never 100% sure. There's always a risk of bricking your console.

Anyone bricked their console here because of nand writing? Did any of you write their nand several times in a short period?

if nand writing is interrupted (ie power off) there are high chances you'll have your NAND bricked, thus 3DS Bricked

but what i don't get if is you brick it, so what, you can still write the dump again to unbrick it?
right?
or is this proven to not be the case?

I don't want to try it to be sure.
It depends on where the bootloader is located (separate ROM or write-protected NAND area).
