Hello.

This is a discussion on adding more cheats for Dragon's Crown. I started by expanding on a BLJM61041 save patch for use with BSD. Now the topic has evolved due to the contributions of real and talented individuals who can be found publicly on this forum. This topic public and our work is transparent. At the pinnacle of this project is a Dragon's Crown Save Editor app, which demonstrates our research, and puts you in control of the game.

Research and development has reached a critical point. If you'd like to help, look at the Update section below, pick a task, and post your findings.

In development - Dragon's Crown Save Editor

This app makes modding much easier than using a save patch.
Accepting feature suggestions, bug reports, and feedback during any stage of development. The stages are Alpha, Planning - Development - Done - Released, repeats to Beta, then Final.

Public Alpha (in development) 90%
The capability of this prototype is synonymous with what save patches can do so far - and a little more.
  • All modifications restricted to Data 1, but you can still
  • Edit all characters, their bags, and skill points.
  • Equipment editing restricted to Weapons & Accessories.
  • Edit weapon/accessory durability.
  • Edit weapon/accessory affixes and values.
  • Edit weapon Attack.
  • Edit accessory Defense.
  • Edit money.
  • Edit talismans.
  • Edit runes.
  • Edit quest completion.
  • Edit gallery completion.
  • Automatic pfdtool encryption/decryption, and Crc32 hash encryption. Never worry about decryption/encryption again with a one-time BSD setup.
  • +Bug fixes and suggestions
Public Beta
This version includes all features in the Alpha, plus
  • Edit spell books, potions, scrolls, rings, etc.
  • Can now edit allies.
  • *Save and load item data, to be shared or kept. Show off your builds.
  • Can now edit Data 1, Data 2, and Data 3.
  • Includes a Change List window to review changes.
  • Move items between characters, bags, and the stash.
  • Edit the stash.
  • Edit Morgan's and Lucain's store.
  • Create items.
  • +Bug fixes and suggestions.
Final
Includes features from the Beta, plus
  • Whatever couldn't be done in previous releases.
  • Repair/debug saves.
  • Auto Max feature - automatically max out all data to acceptable values.
  • UI and appearence improvements.
  • Release app with proper crediting/sourcing.
  • Burn down development and revert to minor patches and support.
  • +Bug fixes and suggestions.
Update 10/4

What's done (beyond the original save patch):
  • Confirmed locations of item levels.
  • Can modify item durability.
  • Found affix IDs.
  • Found locations for Data 1 stash, characters, bags, slots
  • Item duping. Looks ugly, and using BSD doesn't seem like the appropriate tool to do this. Will be featured in Dragon's Crown Save Editor app instead.
  • Confirmed locations of runes
  • Confirmed locations of talismans, per difficulty. Set them all if you'd like.
  • Confirmed locations of quests.
  • Confirmed locations of gallery images.
  • Found stash location. Can now edit the stash.
  • Modifying weapon/accessory properties and affixes.
  • Can now edit Uses per Dungeon and Restock Amount for consumable items.
  • Created a "Consumables" app that edits all consumable items found in your game to have infinite Uses Per Dungeon, and the Restock Amount of your choice.
  • Created an "Item Finder" tool that finds all items in game and prints results to a text file.
  • Found location for number of bags. Can now unlock to 9 bags.
  • Found location for Morgan's and Lucain's store. Can now edit store items.
  • Confirmed NPC location.
  • Started a list of Item IDs and # of affix slots.
What needs doing:
  • Set quality of loot obtained to Normal/Hard/Infernal regardless of current difficulty. For example, find loot with 8 affixes on Normal, (may be reset after killing the last boss on normal/hard).
  • Permanently modify character stats. They are being overwritten by the game.
Current Work:
  • Updating the editor and current cheats to 1.03.
  • Dragon's Crown Save Editor app in the works.
  • Solving and exploiting the algorithm that determines an affix value.
  • Creating a fully archived and translated list of affixes.
  • Getting a list of consumable items and equipment.
  • Getting a list of affix/effects and values.
Notes
  • Here's a link to an original JP discussion. It's a good starting point: http://savedata.jp/save-editor/joyful.cgi?list=pickup&num=6061#6061
  • If you find some questionable bones that typically cost 3,000~>10,000,000 , use caution when burying or resurrecting them. You may get a corrupted save from modified equipment created by weird solo hackers.

So the other codes worked for you?

I’m guessing it’s Bag 1, Equipment 1 for weapon and Bag 1, Equipment 2 for defense.
I place the items in those slots, the attack code seems to have worked for my 1st character, but nothing else works.
Am I doing something wrong? Thanks

Assuming you have a weapon at equip 1, and an armor (anything with a Defense value) at slot 2, those mods should work.
I speculated at weapon and armor data structures based on existing cheat codes. It turned out I was off, but they are still 54-bytes long.

On some new development, I found out how to mod Durability.
No more exploding equips while on adventure!

This is still untested beyond the 3rd character, so practise safe modding.

You are CLEARLY one of the most awesome ppl on the planet...CLEARLY....

Edit: I did the edits, it seems that the edits are mostly cosmetic, no? I don't really feel that my character is stronger or more fortified.

Not to take away from any of your work, can't wait 'til you get the rest of the values!

You can do a few things to check, but I assumed you knew this much below:
  1. Look for perfect Attack, Defense, Durability values in your equip menu. Attack 255~255, Defense 255, Durability 999999/999999. This is the obvious place that tells if the cheats are working.
  2. If you don't see them, check if you're applying the cheats correctly: Make sure the weapon you want is placed on the first slot of your equipped bag, and one weapon only. Place armor in slot 2, 3, 4, 5. (My codes assume you have armor in those slots, so be careful about overwriting stats for non-existent or mismatched gear).
  3. Save and quit to the home screen.
  4. Copy Dragon's Crown save data onto an attached USB drive.
  5. Move the USB drive to your PC.
  6. Back up the 'PS3' folder somewhere to avoid screwing up.
  7. Run BruteForce Save Data and find your save data.
  8. Decrypt -> apply cheats (LV99, max Skill Points, Weapon Attack, Defense, Durability, for example) -> Encrypt.
  9. Move your USB drive to your PS3 and overwrite the local Dragon's Crown save data.
  10. Play the game, and scream.
Still, these cheats don't go a long way. You will see a boost on a new character if you use the cheats in step 9. Maybe there will be another boost when we can max character stats. However, nothing much is affected in the late game. I'd still advocate the Durability cheat because health/broken equipment (especially weapons) will in/validate entire bags and define your performance. Broke a godly weapon? Use another bag. All weapons broken? End your adventure and lose bonuses. Another dramatic boost in the future would be to modify equipment affixes to get -X% damage taken, +X% damage, DMG +% (sacrifice durability), +X% as <elemental> damage, etc.

Here are some photos of my Amazon with cheats applied:

It's a pretty good game. Maybe on the Vita, you won't encounter anyone like me to ruin your experience, lol.
Nah, he'll encounter me. I upload from PS3 then download on Vita.

I wasn't saying the codes were not working I was basically agreeing with your conclusion "Still, these cheats don't go a long way."

The durability and skill points are undeniably useful, but with 1000+ def I'm still getting my @$$ handed to me in the LoC and I'm only on floor 13! lol

I'm really doing all of this for the LoC, I DESTROYED the game through jap version when that came out, transferred save to US, uploaded, downloaded on Vita....I have a lot of copies of this game...lol

It seems USA players have not really gotten down through the LoC, I never get any help, especially on Vita.

Edit: Also it seems these guys have made some pretty sick headway. It may be kinda hard to understand even with Google Translate, but I was thinking you might be able to reference it since you used the JAP codes to reference from the beginning.

This is quite a treasure. They were looking into weapon modding. One guy had a godly bow. Still, some of them were concerned that certain values could not be modded. For now, we can temporarily dupe godly equips. All of this means they've overlooked some nice things to include in the BLJM61041 save patch.

So LoC... Crazy things happen there. I agree that 1020 Defense across all 4 of your armor does not have much effect. It would be nice to have equips that completely negate incoming damage, max your damage, and a weapon with max chance to petrify, stun, freeze, and so on.

It's another work week and I might have less time to look into all this. I'll update the first post again.

So for someone new, basically you take your save file, copy it on USB, put it on your PC then run Bruteforce to apply any changes (after making a backup)?
I'm mainly just looking to max money and skill points.

Can the PS3 just play your modified save, or will there be some issue unless you're running CFW?

I think running CFW has no effect on your mods. Your idea is spot on. Yes, an unmodified backup of the folder named 'PS3' you get on your USB is highly recommended. Yes, you can choose to just modify your money and skill points. What's important is Step 8 when using BSD: Decrypt -> apply cheats (max Skill Points, max Money) -> Encrypt
because save files are encrypted and cannot be modified that way. BSD simplifies everything involved in step 8.

Hey LocSP, im slightly ahead of you. I was able to test some of the codes from the Japanese link beofre i found this thread.
Apparently the 255 damage & defence doesn't do much in this game, its mostly the affixes that affects the real value.
I haven't figured out how to add the additional affixes on equipments, so i still havd to find eqip with more affixes on them. E.g. eqip with 3 affixes, if you enter code for 4th affix it still only shows 3 in game.

With all that said i'll update some screen later when i get home.
So far i can cnfm these works, 245% added damage, -107% damage reduction, immune to all element DoT, 450% ignore defence (i think), +111 to stats (CON, STR, etc) and few other.
But its rather time consuming when u can only edit equpment 1 & 2. If u can figure the location for the 3rd -5th equip that be awesome.

Cheers!

You're certainly correct that max Attack and Defense do not do much. Also, some of us already know the addresses of all items in a bag, (so we're no longer limited to equip 1 and 2). That said, I might be able to dupe those godly affixes you mentioned. Like we both have said, I'm also trying to add and modify affixes. Here are some hypotheses I made on my research today:
  • Certain affixes are limited to equip type (ex. Power Shot damage +30% only for Bows). This may be why your initial mods didn't work. Keep trying to add valid affixes instead, and so will I. I'll report back in a while.
  • Certain affixes are rolled on an equip depending on the map you've obtained it from when dropped. Irrelevant because we're modding anyways B-)
  • Affix values can go beyond the limits of their design (245% added damage :yay: ).
Charts for compatible affixes:
weapons http://www.4gamer.net/games/134/G013480/FC20130716007/
armor http://www.4gamer.net/games/134/G013480/FC20130716008/
It will be appreciated if someone can provide English links for sites like these, not just Google translations. The translations for the armor types in the table are a bit off...

Thanks for helping.

Loc, correct on pt 1 certain affix is limited to equip type. I was missing around without knowing that at first.
I found out that since its moded the affix can still present regardless of equip type, however u will see it being yellow on the equip when u in the game. But the effect will still apply, i've added +15% speed increase on a stave and wizard was moving faster lol. Have not encounter any crash due to this yet luckly.

Pt2 is correct as well, i've added random affix & cnfm this.

Im with you haha, chking this on my phone simce cant view this thread at work. Feel like going home to test out more.
But from the link i've read certain % if go beyond the beyond it will become negative, but im sure we all know that but will need to test the limit. For stats affix +111 isn't the max index, i havent tried going higher but in game stats screen it max out at 255.

The problem could be my mistake: Can you tell me which cheat lines you used?

Or it may be your experience with BSD:
  • Did you decrypt, apply cheats, then encrypt in BSD?
  • Did you Bruteforce the save files using <F6> before decrypting? You only need to do this once.
I've been doing this hundreds of times, but I guess it's not the same for others. Need feedback.

I set up BSD, put the file you uploaded in the Cheat folder, loaded the save and followed the steps (F6, decrypt, cheats for skill points, encrypt) and it still seems to be corrupted.

The only thing I can think of is that I didn't put in my Console ID in the beginning when I first installed BSD? I have no idea how to get that since apparently they patched it a while back >__>

I've survived without my console ID all this time and used BSD over 10+ games. So I think you're okay.
I updated the save patch, but there's little difference.
Check if you're not applying cheats for characters and slots that don't exist. Also, the order in which character data is modded depends on the order you've created your characters. So [Character 1 - skill points 999] may not necessarily be the character you see at the top in the 'Select Player' menu.
Lastly, if you're still defeated, just upload your decrypted SAVE0.DAT file to me. I will READ YOUR MIND.

When you say "Godly equips" do you just mean awesome items with many affixes or do you mean equipment with the boosted affixes from the JAP thread?

I want to help as much as I can.

Oh yea! Codes work beyond character 3. All 6 of my characters are 255ed DOWN

Hmmmm..... :S

As for some additional details, this is a save I uploaded from a Vita (using the save file transfer), and I'm currently using a DLC narrator... not sure if that will mess with anything. The save folder looks like "BLUS30767-AUTO_0-" instead of the BLUS30767 that I usually would expect. And I guess I'll include the decrypted file here just in case you can find any peculiarities with it.
