Hacking How do i load a .wad from usb loadergx

Nope no errors, so this doesn't seem to answer why I can't see v8 as an install option. Guess I will just double check everything and then extract v8 into the installer folder again.

OK finally got around to checking it out, seems there was a d2x folder inside another d2x folder. So I moved the inner one out to the main folder and now v8-final shows up as an option. Just wanted to double check -optimum for USBloader will be ios 249, base 56, revision 21006. Or since I'm updating this just so I can use wiiware in the emunand should I put ii in a fresh ios and open my wiiware from there? Thanks.

you can replace your slot 249/250 from revision 6 to revision 8 without problem (or even revision v10 or v10-alt if v8 doesn't work with your drive).

OK thanks. Installed d2x v8 in 249 but when I try to launch wiiware it now no longer gives me the warning about not having d2x it now just goes black and restarts USBloader. My proper Wii and Gamecube games still play fine though. Do I need to install it in 250 as well? or mess with other settings? Thanks. Or does my wiiware need to be reinstalled directly into the emunand? Maybe usbloader doesn't properly copy it over from the sd card?

Emunand still not working for me d2x v8. Launching any wiiware in the emunand just relaunches USB Launcher. Tried to install a few WADs into the emunand using usbloader but that also seems to do nothing.

I don't know why.
You probably did something wrong, as it works for all other users.

maybe start again from the start.
Delete the EmuNAND folder (SD;/nand/)
Delete the USBLoaderGX folder
Be sure you are using d2x v8 or 10
reinstall the latest USBLoaderGX beta (the one which work with WAD installation on EmuNAND, not the v3.0)
Make a new NAND Dump using the features menu
Put (non corrupted) WAD files on your SD or USB, and use the Feature menu to install them to EmuNAND.
That's all.

Thanks, but not really worth it for me to bother with all that since I can just continue to play wiiware off the sd card from the wii menu. Would be nice to launch it from usbloader but not crucial. I will just do one more check of everything and if it doesn't work, it doesn't work.

you can't launch WiiWare stored on "official SD Menu". That's probably why it's not working.
When you store a channel in the SD using the official SD menu, it's deleting the game from your Wii but keep only the ticket (to know you already bought/installed it). On the SD card it's an encrypted file and it can't be used by USBLoaderGX.

no it's not.
the Wii is not running in an emulated mode, so there's no function to read the Wad content in real time.
USBGX has nothing to do with that, as it's unloaded when the game is launched. If something were possible, it would be with the cIOS, not with the game launchers.

The Wii access the Title's content in the NAND paths, if it's not present it will reboot or display an error.
So, you need to extract the Wad to either real or emulated NAND.
I accidentally bricked my Mii Channel after not restoring the backup after using it for WUPHax!

what it has to do with this thread and the quote?
ask for help in another thread, on wiiu section. if you didn't restore it yet, restore it now? follow guides properly and up to the end to prevent this situation.

What does it do when you play the game from SD card? I read somewhere there's some loading time, but it still doesn't use the Wii blocks, so that led me to think you actually play the game from SD card??

when you play a game located on the SD menu, the system menu decrypts the game (stored in bin format on SD if I remember) and copy the decrypted file(s) into the NAND.
I'm not sure where it's located on NAND, except it's a hidden channel, but you can have only one "decrypted game from SD menu" at a time installed on internal NAND.
When you run the same game, it's already present on NAND, it launches quickly.
If you play a different game from SD menu, it deletes* the current NAND decrypted game and replaces it with the new one, decrypted and copied from SD menu.
* It probably copies the savegame to SD menu first ? or maybe the savegame is in its proper official TitleID folder on NAND ?

I also don't know if the needed block is dynamic or fixed for all games to make enough storage space (40MB max for a wiiWare/VC game)

I never actually analyzed all the process in detail. I only know about the "one game on NAND at a time".
I know encrypted bin can be decrypted by homebrew (JoostinOnline made one) to be converted to wad if you really need to convert/get them installed to an emuNAND for example.
it would be nice to include that feature inside a gameloader, but I'm also not sure what the best approach would be (copy to internal, like an official game, and launch from NAND, or decrypt and copy to an emuNAND folder to prevent future decryption waste of time and list/launch emuNAND in priority)
