Lali ho!
For those of you keeping track of my life and its recent events, you're no doubt aware that my fiancee and I are expecting our first child in the next few months. And for those that aren't keeping track...uhh...sorry, guess I should have called spoiler alert. My bad. But we've hit a bit of a snag. You might recall I talked about it on the chatbox briefly at one point, but that thing refreshes every few seconds so it's likely a lot of you missed it. So here's a more permanent means to discuss things.
Long ago I settled on a name for my future daughter. I decided to name her Freya. It's a good, strong name. Unusual enough to be noteworthy but not sounding like a name for a future stripper like when chavs call their kids 'Krystal' and the like. The other half loves it too, so her first name is officially Freya, unless for unknown reasons we change it. Don't see that happening, but then maybe when she arrives she won't 'feel' like a Freya. Apparently parents get weird feelings like that.
But we're stumped when it comes to the rest of her name. She'll likely take my second name of Fielding (Kudos if you get why I chose that as a joke) but we're stuck trying to find a middle name for her, or even decide if she should have one. I had one back before I changed my name and it was awful (No, I won't say what it was, it's that bad), and my fiancee's middle name is Rosemary, something I didn't discover for a while as her first name's Amelia, so naturally we all started calling her Amy Rose after the psycho hammer wielding pink hedgehog. She generally disregards her middle name as a result. But we feel it's sort of our duty to overcome this middle name curse and give our daughter something that will sit well with her.
But with the two of us completely stumped, we've decided to open up to public opinion. After all, you guys and gals have given me some remarkable insights over the years, sometimes even on purpose. So I'm here today to request your help in finding a middle name for my daughter, Freya Fielding. There are a few rules the better half has laid down:
- No celebrity names, or anything that sounds 'slutty'. Her words, not mine, don't shoot the messenger.
- Naming her after someone noteworthy is acceptable, but only if we agree on what they're noteworthy for. Example, I'm sure Paris Hilton is a big name, but she's a big name in the field of skank, so not what we'd call decent.
- We'd rather have a name with some meaning. Nothing generic. Something that really carries some weight to it.
With that in mind, I hereby open the floor to the public, and look forward to hearing your suggestions.
