Hacking I bricked my vWii mode.

People need to translate the warning threads into this format. I think when I get home I will go ahead and install priiloader, then some random Wii ios files to "See what happens." This was part of the reason I thought it to be risky for anyone to toy with vWii for testing "Other stuff" not mentioned here. Personally, I always want a way out. With 360, something happened, clip in my nand flasher and recover. Wii had "infectus" but I never used it. At least Wii U nand is eMMC with a guide (nobody talks about reading it though, lmfao). Point being; always have a recovery method before toying around. Good thing it is not a massive inconvenience but still you are here telling the story and how many out there have done this? We've all seen those threads, lmfao.

Once, one time, ages ago, a tool bricked my Wii. I ended up using a Walmart special exchange coupon I had laying around to fix my stupidity but then I had to repent and promise to never use that coupon again.

I dunno, I don't have a Wii U either, but your thought sounds very dangerous, like that could potentially brick Wii U mode dangerous.

Yup, it's a risky idea for sure ...The idea is to harm the System files, but in a way that would not leave it in a brick state (that's why I suggested bugging a channel update, not a System update) ...so the wiiU thinks the System is out of date, and asks for a System update...
More of a thinking exercise then a suggestion actually..

Well he does have a point, I did bring it on to myself. I did try to find a lot of ways to get it work just I didn't look long enough.

Wait for the summer update, perhaps it can fix it like the last one did for Agenttsk.
I guess the update checks if all vWii IOS are in place and if something is missing or corrupted it overwrites it.
It HAS to check it at least with the bigger updates (the ones that also come on new gamediscs), because there could always be a virgin launch WiiU without vWii that gets its first update from a disc (remember, vWii was only added with the day 1 update).

I've been trying to softmod it so I can play wii games and I think I managed to brick it (it's locked in a black screen and I waited for a short while since it usually comes on quite quickly).

Can anyone give me direction on how to restore it first?
Then a way to softmod it please?
At least my wii u menu is fine I can still open monster hunter.
Please help.

The only downside is that no one has a software solution to dump the raw nand, or so I've seen so far. Everything that I've seen is for dumping the file system which is absolutely useless for a bricked wii or vwii and I'm not even sure why people are being suggested to do that since that is a completely false sense of safety.

While I don't condone lying (especially when it involves giving fraudulent information to get a refund you don't deserve), that is a completely different situation. The user simply couldn't update.

the point was, (although they aren't always 100% correct in their findings) they would see that it was most likely modded and just send it back. Mainly as seeing as if it was an update brick, the whole system (and not just the vWii) would be bricked.

though the retarded shit is, they should have equipment there to where you just have to plug it in somewhere and flash the current system OS and all that, effectively formatting the whole system but having it running

I misunderstood you and apologize. I thought you said you used infectus on vWii nand. Sorry about that

He did use infectus. Not only to reflash the nand, but also to read it's contents. Current nand dumpers only dump the file/folder structure of the nand. To be able to reflash the vwii nand, you need a raw nand dump like the ones bootmii used to produce on a normal wii. Such a dump is a bin file with a size a bit larger than 512 MB. Sice bootmii isn't running on vwii, you can't produce such a dump. Ohneswanzenegger probably isn't working to produce vwii nand either. Not sure why this is the case. Mayby Deadly can enlighten us? Is it because boot1 and boot2 are missing and not part of the file system dump? Aren't those encrypted with a console unique key? So you can't just use them from another vwii.
