I've been trying to softmod it so I can play wii games and I think I managed to brick it (it's locked in a black screen and I waited for a short while since it usually comes on quite quickly).

Can anyone give me direction on how to restore it first?
Then a way to softmod it please?
At least my wii u menu is fine I can still open monster hunter.
Please help.

I think I screw up the ios since I didn't have any luck with getting it to work.
Yeah I did screw some of the ios by installing some other types of ios...
(what plural for ios?)

oh well it's not the worst loss though since I still got my wii and it works perfectly.
I guess I just use my wii u for wii u gaming then.

Yeah, if the WiiU update modifies some vWii stuff or replaces the original files it will fix itself when the WiiU gets updated, but I'm not sure what the chances of that are.

A vWii brick fixed by an update ? Didn't the DSi had something similar for DS mode ? You know the virus that bricked the DS and if executed on the DSi, DS mode is bricked ? vWii mode getting fixed by an update is similar to DS mode getting fixed by a DSi update

hmm I already updated mine before I bricked it so no chance for now.
I'm guessing clearing out the wii u's data won't help right?
I only got like 2 save files and the most important monster hunter 3U save is on my 3ds at the moment.

I should not laugh at this but honestly...does anyone read? Must everything be in the form of a text? "Dn ud ios y w b." Lol, do not up date ios you will brick." People need to translate the warning threads into this format. I think when I get home I will go ahead and install priiloader, then some random Wii ios files to "See what happens." This was part of the reason I thought it to be risky for anyone to toy with vWii for testing "Other stuff" not mentioned here. Personally, I always want a way out. With 360, something happened, clip in my nand flasher and recover. Wii had "infectus" but I never used it. At least Wii U nand is eMMC with a guide (nobody talks about reading it though, lmfao). Point being; always have a recovery method before toying around. Good thing it is not a massive inconvenience but still you are here telling the story and how many out there have done this? We've all seen those threads, lmfao.

Once, one time, ages ago, a tool bricked my Wii. I ended up using a Walmart special exchange coupon I had laying around to fix my stupidity but then I had to repent and promise to never use that coupon again.

That would require Wii U mode to be hacked, and as of now that has not happened.
I don't have a WiiU, so I was thinking if you could reinstall downloaded updates ..or if it's all automated (what probably is..)
Also, Channels are updated individually? ..maybe turning the wiiU off in the middle of a channel update could trigger a System update when it's turned on again? (just throwing thoughts ..I don't actually recommend someone trying that :P)

I dunno, I don't have a Wii U either, but your thought sounds very dangerous, like that could potentially brick Wii U mode dangerous.

Ouch, unlucky man.
This has got me scared about vwii though, ha ha.
I did hack my vwii a while ago, and its all working fine, but...
Is it OK to update my Wii U when an update is released for it or should I check up online if there's any problems for vwii in it? I think I read somewhere vwii hacks wouldnt get in trouble with future updates, but seeing someones vwii got fixed from an update it seems clear that vwii is being updated too...

Thanks if anyone can answer my question
