...questioning her under oath last month that she has used the N-word. "Yes, of course," Deen said, though she added, "It's been a very long time."

A person who is very deeply USA southern oriented, still has a VERY thick southern accent using a racial slur against black people. That's surprising to Food Network?

What's stranger about this is the fact she claims she didn't even use the term recently at all, and possibly she hasn't used it in many many years. Yet she's being fired over it now.

Don't get me wrong, racial slurs of any kind are very bad, but I think being fired over something that someone potentially did years ago is kind of shaky.

...And by next week the Paula Deen cooking line will be pulled from every Target store in Canada and the US.

I don't want to say that it was her own doing and that she should fess up, but this was many years ago. Why did it only come to light now?

Probably has to do with the Ongoing Lawsuit against her by former Employee.......All she wanted to do was have a "Plantation" themed Dinner Party u know Like all Southern Rednecked Hicks

Hopefully she chokes on sum Delicious Fried Chicken or Sweet Watermelon

It is believed she has also been overheard muttering the word "eggplant" on several occasions.
(*shoot, now I've said it too... does this mean I'm also a racist???)

And i believe that people who cries about other people using the word n**** are just attention whores.

Never cared for cooking shows but this seems pretty ridiculous considering that
1. It was apparently a long time ago and
2. Black people use that word all the time.

Dog The Bounty Hunter was caught on tape (by his son) using the n-word years ago. He was fired and eventually returned to tv. She'll be back. Also, Kramer.

Is this for real? You can get fired for admitting (under oath) you've used a racial slur far in the past? Okay, I hate racism as much as the next guy, but this is just retarded. Also...I guess the unemployment of NIGGERS* must be pretty high in your country.

*random conversation between 2 black guys*

guy 1: yo, n****'. How's things hanging?
guy 2: ey, bro. What ya sayin'? You just fucked up your career, fool. That shit is racial slur, 'kay?
guy 1: what? but I'm going to college!
guy 2: that don't matter, man. Saying those words is illegal. You could lose your job, dawg.

*somewhere in a courthouse in a not too distant dystopian future*

lawyer: do you swear, under oath, that you have never uttered the D-word?
guy 2: erm...the D-word?
lawyer: did you, or did you not, refer to an Afro-American citizen as being of the canine species?
guy 2: I have...no idea what you're talking about?
lawyer: point case: did you, at any point, call a certain mr. James Earlbroke a dog? Or "dawg", if you will?
guy 2: I...may have. But it was a long time ago, way before...
courtroom: *GASP*
lawyer: Thank you, that will be all. No further questioning will be necessary, your honor.
judge: thank you, that will be all. I hereby declare your employer in his complete right to fire you on the spot, mr. Harwin. As you well know, racism will NOT be tolerated against Afro-descendant-Americans.
guy 2: dude...you're kidding me, right? How could that be racism? James is as black as I am!
courtroom: *dead silence*
judge: ...did you just say the B-word? Here? In my courtroom?

*boy, am I glad not to live in the US right now.

And arteries everywhere breathed a sigh of relief.

Anyway, I have absolutely no sympathy for Deen here. When you choose a career in the public spotlight, the constant scrutiny is part of the job. Be ready to deal with it or face the consequences.
