I believe they close when somebody enters your town, so you can't use em.

store hours vary on the mayor's rule set.. if they set an "early bird" rule set, most stores open at 6 am, and nook reality at 7 am.. if they do a late night rule set, the stores close anywhere from 11pm - 2 am, with normal opening hours
