Indeed they do like Intel processors better but emulators use GPU's much more. You would save more $$$, get better quality/fps and play better PC games with AMD. Phenom II X4 965 is a great gaming CPU and only $85 so you can get a $200 Graphics card that can run any game and any emulator. Of coarse you wont have those crazy processing speeds intel chips have but with a AM3+ Motherboard upgrading will be really easy to say the $200 eight-core processor athough i doubt you will ever need it. The Phenom 965 Black Edition is killer.

Both PCSX2 and Dolphin heavily lean on CPU more than GPU.

Oh yeah, I forgot about GPU.

I think one of the best graphics cards out now, price/performance wise, is the 7870 Tahiti. It's basically a 7930, not related to the 7800 series in anything other than name. You can overclock it to be around the speed of a 7950 for much less money.

7850, 7870, and 7870 Tahiti (7930) are all good on its own. I'm using 7850 stock speed, works fine on PCSX2 and Dolphin.

I plan on adding later another 8GB of RAM (to use as a RAM Disk) and the GPU (I'm between the GTX660ti, HD7850 or HD7870).

7850, 7870, and 7870 Tahiti (7930) are all good on its own. I'm using 7850 stock speed, works fine on PCSX2 and Dolphin.

I made this post in other thread asking about these cards... it seems that HD7850 is enough, but I really dont know

Just make sure if you are going for 7850 that you pick 2 GB version, there are 1 GB 7850 in the market.

As for cooler, something better. Noctua NH-D14 would be my first suggestion. You can also go with Venomous X, H80, etc.

Really? A Phenom 965 and a HD7850 runs any dolphin game and pcsx2 game I throw at it. 1080p 60fps during gameplay and the best visual experience with most games. Playing Bioshock Infinite on ultra setting seems pretty good to me and is visually amazing. The better doesnt always mean the best.

wow that Noctua is quite expensive! the H80 is a little more accesible.

What about keeping the CM 212+ and going with a 2500k?... I've heard that Sandy runs a lot cooler than Ivy

Still not recommended to use 212. 212 is good for stock speed, but overclocking is pushing it.

Well... it has been really hard to find all the parts I want (sucky country )... so I had to make a couple of changes.
So far... I've managed to get this

CPU - Intel i5 3570k
COOLING - Corsair Hydro H100i
MOTHER - ASUS Maximus V Gene
RAM - G.SKILL Sniper CL9 (1600 Mhz) (2x8GB)
CASE - Aerocool VS-9 Advance

I'm still undecided on the PSU, as I couldn't find the Cooler Master Silent Pro M700 that I want.

Don't stick with the Intel HD4000, it can't handle OpenGL very well and has flaky drivers. While emulators rely on CPU more than GPU, having a sucky GPU won't help. A mid/high-end nVidia or AMD is a must.

Don't worry, OP is not relying on Intel HD. OP is deciding between 7850, 7870, and 7930.
