Way back when I was a little toddler, I had a SEGA Genesis. It was the first game console I ever owned. I remember buying so many games for it, back before they stopped selling such old games in stores. Fast forward 14 years later, and the system and all its games still sits proudly in my room. But, looking at it made me realize. There were a lot of amazing games on that console. Which ones are your favorites?

Personally, I'll be cliche. My all-time favorite is Sonic 3. It was the first video game I ever played. I still play it to this day.

So many games to chose from, i find it tough to remember one game i didn't enjoy playing.

The main games that stick in my mind and which i really enjoyed playing where, Desert/Jungle Strike, Shining Force 1 & 2 and Toe Jam & Earl.

Sonic 1-3 not forgetting Knuckles (I still remember how I had a hard time saving my money for Sonic & Knuckles) best combination is Sonic 3&Knuckles
Gaiares (Out of these 2 Shooters this one is my favorite, have good memories playing this with my dad so yea)
Wings of Wor
Contra Hard Corps

There's more i'd mention but these are my favorites.

Sonic 3 and Knuckles is generally regarded as a MUST for Genesis owners. I'd say it's the most no-frills, best platformers on the system, refining the gameplay of the previous Sonic games to a razor-sharp point of near-perfection. It's a robust, satisfying platformer of quality often regarded as unmatched by any subsequent Sonic title.

Gunstar Heroes is a thrill to play as well, particularly with a partner. This game tosses enemies and new gameplay mechanics at a merciless rate, and won't have time to blink from start to finish! In addition to the envelope-pushing gameplay, the game was also a technical marvel at the time, with throngs of onscreen enemies, plenty of parallax scrolling, faux-3D effects in every corner, and even instances sprite-rotating trickery (which by all accounts should be impossible on the Genesis!)

Finally, I personally regard Ristar a Genesis must-play. It's an endearing, challenging, incomparably unique platformer with a ton of gameplay twists. Not to mention the splendid soundtrack, which is enough to dispel any criticism that the Genesis gets for its sound capabilities! In my opinion, this game is criminally underplayed and under-appreciated, and it's a standout title in the Genesis library.

Cracker is crumbling!

I can't name just one!

Gunstar Heroes
Toe Jam and Earl (The two player 3D one and not the side scrolling platformer.)
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 with S&N attachment
and Desert/Jungle/Kingkong Strike

I put so many hours into those alone, despite beating them numerous time. I still play them, yay for emulating on the go! Honorable mention is King Salmon I think it was called? I sunk a lot of hours into that too, being an avid fisherman as a kid, however trying to replay it, I hate it haha.

Herzog Zwei
Road Rash 1 and 2 and even 3 although it was not as good as the first two.
Sonic 1 and 2

I wish I had a chance to own a SegaCD and a copy of Snatcher that game in it's time looked amazing to me :( and I never have had a chance to play it.

I am sure there are a ton of great Sega Genesis games but I own so few Genesis games it is pathetic :( (I am slowly collecting them though lol)

Shinobi's Revenge
Shinobi 3
Street of Rage 3
Super Street Fighter 2 (one of the most impressive accomplishments on the console, it's mostly on pair with the Snes version, save for the music)

SylverReZ @ SylverReZ: Also nice. Never really watched Fallout on Prime, but sounds like a good show. +1
