Hello, I am wondering if Nintendo 3ds games contain system updates like psp games do? More specifically Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, I am wondering because I don't wish to purchase the game if it means it will prevent me from using my acekard 2i. PS. I am on system version 3.0.0-5

you most likely be asked to update , to run the game if you fw is too low (yes 3ds can can update the 3ds)

you can always buy a new flash card if need be

Nope.
If ur 3DS is offline and u play the game then its just gonna force you to update to 4.5

What will happen if I want to use the local multiplayer on Monster hunter with another 3ds?

It should force you to at minimum update to whatever firmware came with the MH3U cart. In that case, you'll lose being able to use your rom cart (assuming you got one that is blocked with newer firmwares). This has been my experience, ymmv.

I've personally been holding off on picking up newer titles because of this. I have a huge backlog of DS games Im going through at a moderate pace.
